Three weeks between the shooting and the arrests, and the charges against the father are noticeably heavier than the son's: kidnapping counts, a gun in a liquor establishment and criminal tools. The early 911 call matters too. A caller said both people in the fight had guns, which is the kind of detail that can shape a self-defense argument once this reaches a courtroom.

A father and son from the Cincinnati area have been arrested and charged with murder in a double shooting outside a bar and grill in North College Hill, Ohio, that killed one man and wounded another, Local 12 WKRC reported Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026. The shooting happened Sept. 27 outside Fricker's Bar and Grill. Responding crews found Donald Hales with multiple gunshot wounds and a second person shot in the arm, according to Local 12. Both were taken to a hospital, where Hales died. A 911 caller reported that two people had been fighting when one of them pulled out a gun, and later told dispatchers that both people had guns before the shooting started, the station reported. Police have not publicly described what led to the fight or each man's alleged role.

According to North College Hill police, Brian Peavy is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault and abduction. Aaron Peavy is charged with two counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of abduction, illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor establishment and possessing criminal tools. A Los Feliz man faces federal charges in an alleged plot to attack a Jewish preschool with Molotov cocktails.

The posts quoted in the complaint are ugly, and the government says it found a bottle with gasoline in the house. But federal threat cases turn on more than ugly words. Since the Supreme Court's 2023 Counterman decision, prosecutors have to show at least that he recklessly disregarded how his posts would be taken. His mother's account of mental illness and heavy drinking could matter at that stage.

Garland police charged Ezequiel Hernandez with murder after a man was shot dead outside a business early Saturday.

Police are describing a familiar pattern: an argument inside, closing time, and a shooting in the parking lot. The case got a fast arrest because investigators had a truck description to follow. What we have not heard yet is the defense side, or even the victim's name, which police are holding until his family is notified.

A child and an adult were killed when a truck drove through a youth soccer game at Wichita's Stryker Sports Complex.

The question everyone is asking is whether this was deliberate, and police have not answered it. Witnesses describe a truck that never slowed down, but witness accounts are not findings. Speed, the driver's condition, how the truck got onto the field and any charges will come from the investigation, and that is what decides whether this becomes a homicide case.
