The stations are describing a jail booking. They have not described a complaint from the Ventura County district attorney, a plea, or a court date. ABC7 puts the call at 8:37 p.m. NBC Los Angeles says just after 8:30. KCLU says the store is still under construction. ABC7 says the gas station is already open and the store's grand opening is Oct. 30.

ABC7 reported Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, that the Ventura County Sheriff's Communications Center received a call at about 8:37 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, that a man had been struck by a vehicle in the Costco parking lot at 437 W. Ventura Boulevard in Camarillo, near the gas pumps. NBC Los Angeles reported the same address and put the call at just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. CBS Los Angeles reported the parking lot in the 400 block of W. Ventura Boulevard and did not give a clock time. The address ABC7 and NBC Los Angeles printed, 437, is in that block. All three reported the same next step. Witnesses directed deputies to the driver. Deputies detained him and identified him as 35-year-old Abba Bryski of Agoura Hills.

The man who was hit is described the same way, and the charge is not. ABC7, CBS Los Angeles and NBC Los Angeles reported he was a 28-year-old from Modesto, that he was taken to a hospital, and that he was pronounced dead. None of them printed his name. ABC7 and CBS Los Angeles reported Bryski was later booked into the Ventura County Jail on one count of murder. NBC Los Angeles reported he was arrested on suspicion of murder and then booked on one count of murder. CBS Los Angeles's headline says a driver has been charged with murder. The body of that story says he was booked on one count of murder, citing the sheriff's news release, and says investigators did not provide further details on the circumstances or on the charge. A booking on a count is the intake those stations attribute to the sheriff's office.

The lot is where the accounts separate. KCLU reported deputies were called around 8:30 p.m. to the parking lot of a Costco store under construction on West Ventura Boulevard, that the new store has not opened, and that the gas pumps are open. ABC7 reported the Camarillo store is slated for a grand opening on Oct. 30, according to Costco's website, and that the gas station opened earlier this year. CBS Los Angeles described the Costco parking lot and the gas pumps and did not say whether the store was open. KCLU reported investigators are not saying what they think happened and are looking for witnesses. ABC7 reported detectives from the Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau and the Camarillo Investigations Unit responded, and that the Major Crimes Bureau is investigating the incident as a homicide. CBS Los Angeles reported the same bureau assumed the investigation and is investigating it as a homicide. CBS Los Angeles and ABC7 reported an investigator from the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the hospital, transported the man who died, and that the office will determine cause and manner of death.

The tip line matches on ABC7 and CBS Los Angeles. Both named Detective Erik Hernandez at 805-384-4729 and Detective Gerardo Cruz at 805-384-4726. KCLU did not print the names. The sheriff's accounts those stations published do not describe a speed, a weapon, or why the vehicle struck him. The count they describe is the murder booking. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff's officials named Edward Villa as the suspect after Katie Kinder, her son and her mother were found shot to death in Happy Valley.

Thursday's briefing names the three people and names Villa as the only suspect. The warrant was three counts of first-degree murder. He was found dead before an arrest. KPTV, citing Warrenton police, called it an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. KGW reported Detective Matt Lysaght would not go past a gunshot deputies heard, a firearm in the room, and the fact that no officer fired. KPTV and OPB call the motel the South Jetty Inn. The Oregonian calls it the South Jetty Motel.

An Oahu grand jury indicted Orion Satori on a second-degree murder charge in the Young Street stabbing of Kiril Stoimenov.

An indictment means a grand jury found enough to send the case forward. It is not a finding of guilt. Police have said Satori did the stabbing, according to Hawaii News Now. The next step is arraignment, where he will be asked to enter a plea. Second-degree murder in Hawaii carries a maximum of life with the possibility of parole, the station reported.
