Elshazly was sentenced to 92 months and lifetime supervised release after pleading guilty to attempting to provide material support to ISIS.

On Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden sentenced Ahmad Khalil Elshazly, 29, of West Haven, Connecticut, to 92 months in prison and lifetime supervised release. The sentence follows his Nov. 30, 2022 guilty plea to attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.

A prison sentence after a guilty plea is the court's judgment on the admitted count, not an open accusation. On Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden sentenced Ahmad Khalil Elshazly to 92 months in prison and lifetime supervised release for attempting to provide material support to ISIS. The judgment rests on the plea Elshazly entered on Nov. 30, 2022. A Justice Department account of later conduct in detention is not a second conviction.

On Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden, in the District of Connecticut, sentenced Ahmad Khalil Elshazly, 29, of West Haven, to 92 months in prison and lifetime supervised release. Elshazly, a U.S. citizen, pleaded guilty on Nov. 30, 2022, to attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, ISIS. The Justice Department announced the sentence. A sentence after that plea is the judgment on the count he admitted.

The Justice Department said that in December 2019 Elshazly paid $500 believing he was arranging to be smuggled to Turkey and then to Syria. He was arrested on Dec. 15, 2019, in Stonington, Connecticut, expecting to board a boat. The department said he had created and administered a pro-ISIS Discord and had pledged bay'at. He has been detained since the arrest. Those are the facts the 2022 plea covered. The 92-month term and lifetime supervised release are the judgment on that plea.

The Justice Department also said that an August 2025 search of Elshazly's cell found a handwritten plan for an uprising. That statement describes conduct the department attributes to him while he was detained. It is not a separate conviction entered on Monday.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
