A battery booking is an accusation, not a finding that anyone was struck, and it is not a conviction. Aiden Dombrowski, 19, was booked into the Coweta County Jail after witnesses described an attack during a high school cross-country race on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026. What he told officers on body camera, including that it was a prank, is his account, not a dismissal.

Newnan police were called to the area of 56 Sewell Road at about 7:59 a.m. on Sept. 26, 2026, after a 911 call reporting an assault during the Coweta Cup Cross Country Championship at Newnan High School. Witnesses told officers that a man emerged from the woods holding rocks and wearing an East Coweta High School cross-country jersey, then ran toward a Newnan High School runner, pushed him, and struck him with his fists. The runner fought back. Those are witness accounts as WSB-TV, FOX 5 Atlanta, and the New York Post recounted the police report. They are not a verdict.

FOX 5 Atlanta reported that Dombrowski, a former Northgate High School cross-country runner who attends the University of Georgia, drove from Athens on Friday night, slept in his car, and put on the East Coweta jersey Saturday morning. The New York Post reported the drive as about 110 miles. The runner's response left Dombrowski with a cut near his right eye, and officers called an ambulance, FOX 5 reported. He left the course, changed clothes, and turned himself in to officers in a nearby parking lot. Officers found the East Coweta jersey in his vehicle. A surrender and a jersey in a car are facts police described. They do not prove the battery count.

On body-camera footage, as the New York Post and FOX 5 reported it, Dombrowski called the incident a prank, described the runner as an acquaintance, and denied attacking him. Those are his statements. They are not a finding that the witnesses are wrong, and they are not a finding that he is guilty. He was booked into the Coweta County Jail on a charge of battery.

In a later update, the Newnan Police Department said it confirmed with the Coweta County School System that Dombrowski is not a current or former East Coweta High School student. The charge remains battery. A booking on that count is an accusation. Dombrowski is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
