ABC10 says Alberto Alonso Alencastro was arrested in Mexico. KCRA says he was apprehended there.

ABC10, by Abby Eger, published and updated at 2:09 p.m. PST on Nov. 7, 2026, says Alencastro, 25, was arrested in Mexico and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail in the kidnapping and murder case of Avtar Singh, 57. KCRA, by Nijzel Dotson, updated at 1:23 p.m. PST the same day, prints neither age. It says he was apprehended in Mexico. The Press Democrat’s Oct. 1 story, written while all three men were still at large, reports the district attorney’s office is charging them with murder and kidnapping.

Arrested, and apprehended, are not the same word. Detained, on the FOX40 text a Bay Area page printed, is a third word. Days later, and three days later, are not the same count. Feb. 17, and Feb. 20, are not the same day. A ravine, and near the lake, are not the same place line. Alfonso Cresencio Segura Arellano, and Alfonso Segura on the sheriff’s board, are not the same name line. A booking is not a conviction.

ABC10, by Abby Eger, published and updated at 2:09 p.m. PST on November 7, 2026, reported that one of three suspects wanted in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a Tracy man was arrested in Mexico, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. It reported Alberto Alonso Alencastro, 25, was arrested in Mexico and has since been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. KCRA, by Nijzel Dotson, updated at 1:23 p.m. PST on Nov. 7, 2026, reported one of three suspects has been arrested, and its headline says 1 arrested and 2 suspects remain at large. The body says that on Saturday the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s office announced the arrest, and that Alencastro was apprehended in Mexico and later booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. Arrested, in the headline, and apprehended, in the body, are not the same word, and both are on KCRA. Arrested in Mexico, on ABC10, and apprehended in Mexico, on KCRA, are not the same verb. Has since been booked, and later booked, are not the same tense. Sheriff’s Office, in KCRA’s first sentence and on ABC10, and Sheriff’s office, in KCRA’s Saturday sentence, are not the same capitalization. KCRA does not print 25. A Bay Area Daily News page posted by Katie Chavez on November 7, 2026, and labeled FOX40, reported one of three suspects was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a man from Tracy in February, that the sheriff’s office announced it Saturday, and that Alberto Alonso Alencastro was detained by law enforcement in Mexico and later booked into the San Joaquin County Jail, deputies said. The page cuts off at “The FBI.” Detained, and arrested, and apprehended, are not the same word. That page does not print an age. The jail name matches on all three.

The date of the death is not one date. ABC10 reported 57-year-old Avtar Singh was kidnapped from a Sikh temple in Tracy on Feb. 17, and that days later Napa County officials found his body in a ravine near Lake Berryessa. KCRA reported Avtar Singh’s body was found near Lake Berryessa on Feb. 20, three days after he was kidnapped from a Sikh temple in Tracy. It does not print Feb. 17, 57, a ravine, or Napa County. Days later, and three days later, are not the same count. Feb. 20, and a date ABC10 does not print, are not the same day line. A ravine, and near the lake, are not the same place line. The Press Democrat, by Colin Atagi, published October 1, 2026, at 12:26 p.m. PDT and updated at 3:23 p.m. PDT, is not the arrest story. It reported the sheriff’s office identified the suspects Wednesday, Sept. 30, and that all three remained at large. It reported Singh, 57, was abducted the afternoon of Feb. 17 from Gurdwara Gur Nanak Parkash on West Grant Road in Tracy, and that on Feb. 20 the Napa County Sheriff’s Office investigated a body in the area of Highway 128, between Wragg Canyon Road and Monticello Dam, nearly 90 miles from the abduction. Napa County officials, and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, are not the same name. A Sikh temple, a Tracy Gurdwara, and Gurdwara Gur Nanak Parkash, are not the same name. West Grant Road, Highway 128, Wragg Canyon Road, and Monticello Dam are on the Oct. 1 story. ABC10 and KCRA do not print them. The Oct. 1 story reported his cause of death has not been disclosed. The Saturday stories do not print a cause of death.

The other two names match on the Saturday pages and not on the board. ABC10 reported two suspects remain wanted: Alfonso Cresencio Segura Arellano and Barnabe Antonio Segura Arellano. KCRA printed those same two names and said they are still on the loose. Wanted, at large, and on the loose, are not the same status line. The Press Democrat’s Oct. 1 story printed the same long names and added ages the Saturday stories do not: Alfonso Cresencio Segura Arellano, 20, and Barnabe Antonio Segura Arellano, 22. It reported the latter two are brothers. ABC10 and KCRA do not print 20, 22, or brothers. The sheriff’s office board published with that Oct. 1 story, and used as ABC10’s Nov. 7 page image, labels the portraits ALBERTO ALENCASTRO, ALFONSO SEGURA, and BARNABE SEGURA. Alfonso Cresencio Segura Arellano, and Alfonso Segura, are not the same name line. Barnabe Antonio Segura Arellano, and Barnabe Segura, are not the same name line. The board says “WANTED FOR KIDNAPPING + MURDER.” That is the graphic. It is not a verdict. The Oct. 1 story reported the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office is charging each man with murder and kidnapping. Saturday’s ABC10 and KCRA stories say an arrest in connection with a kidnapping and murder, and they do not print those counts. Charging each man with murder and kidnapping, and an arrest in connection with a kidnapping and murder, are not the same sentence.

The account of the kidnapping is on KCRA and the Oct. 1 story, and not on ABC10’s Saturday story. KCRA reported surveillance showed three people in a white crossover-style SUV. The Press Democrat reported surveillance showed three people forcing him into a white SUV and that it appeared he did not want to go. A white crossover-style SUV, and a white SUV, are not the same vehicle line. ABC10’s Saturday story does not print a vehicle. KCRA reported investigators believed Singh was a victim of mistaken identity, that the actual target was a person in Canada, that investigators traveled to Canada from Feb. 25-27, and that the person and his family had been receiving threats related to a stolen trailer of cargo. It reported the sheriff’s office says the intended target stole a trailer, and that it was enough for the suspects to want to chase him down and kill him. That is the office’s account of intent toward a person who is not named. It is not a finding that Alencastro killed Singh. The Press Democrat reported the suspects targeted a man who was in Canada, and a stolen trailer of cargo. A person, and a man, are not the same word. Feb. 25-27 is on KCRA and not on the Oct. 1 story. The Oct. 1 story reported spokesperson Heather Brent could not disclose who owned the cargo or whether the man had any connection to Singh. ABC10’s Saturday story does not print Canada, a trailer, or mistaken identity. It reported the FBI and Mexican federal law enforcement authorities assisted in the arrest. KCRA’s Saturday story does not print those agencies. KCRA reported Singh had lived on the temple grounds at the Tracy Gurdwara with his wife and children, including a set of triplets born shortly before the kidnapping. It did not name the wife or the children. The Press Democrat, citing a fundraiser, reported he was a father to triplets and did not name them. They are not named here. ABC10 did not print a household. Both Saturday stories printed the tip line 209-468-4400. A charge is not a conviction. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

WJLA says Judge Neal Kravitz found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. NBC4 says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Voluntary manslaughter while armed, and voluntary manslaughter, and manslaughter, are not the same count. A bench outside Father O'Connell Hall, and a park on the campus, and a small plaza by that hall, and the 600 block of Alumni Lane, are not the same place. Brookland-CUA Metro, and Brookland Metro, and Brookland-Catholic University Metro, are not the same station line. Snapchat messages, and a message, and an urgent message, are not the same account. Cash App, and cash app, and $300 with no app named, are not the same line. Judge Kravitz accepted the plea and found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed.
