The counts CBS New York lists are criminally negligent homicide and unauthorized practice of a profession. News 12 uses the same two counts and says the NYPD has not released more about Leslie's role. CBS New York says the complaint describes an injection. An arrest and a complaint are the accusation. The next date on CBS New York is Nov. 4. News 12 does not print a court date.
CBS New York and News 12 reported Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, that Alicia Leslie, 47, of Mount Vernon, New York, was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide and unauthorized practice of a profession in the death of Maxine Messam, 53, of Bridgeport, Connecticut. CBS New York said she was arrested Saturday. News 12 said the NYPD said she was arrested Oct. 16. Oct. 16, 2026, was a Friday. Saturday was Oct. 17. The two outlets do not put the arrest on the same calendar day. Both put the death on Feb. 15, 2022, more than four years earlier. CBS New York said she is due back in court on Nov. 4. News 12 did not give a next date.
What the complaint says, and what the department has said in public, are not the same paragraph. CBS New York reported that according to the criminal complaint, Leslie, who is also known as Toya, injected Messam with "a silicone substance." News 12 reported that the NYPD has not released additional details about Leslie's alleged role. A complaint allegation printed by one station and a department silence reported by the other are both in Thursday's coverage. Neither is a finding about how Messam died. The charge of unauthorized practice of a profession is the licensing count both outlets list next to the homicide count. It is not, by itself, a medical finding.
The hospital account is the part they share, with a half-hour gap and a different clock. CBS New York said Messam was dropped off at Jacobi Hospital unconscious, unresponsive and without pants just before 2 a.m. on Feb. 15, 2022, with multiple injection marks on her buttocks. News 12 said two women claiming to be Good Samaritans brought her to Jacobi Medical Center around 1:30 a.m., saying they found her near a cemetery asking for help, and that she was partially unclothed with multiple injection marks on her buttocks. CBS New York said the two women brought her in her own vehicle, pulled her out, loaded her onto a gurney, told staff they found her outside Woodlawn Cemetery in that condition, and then left. News 12 did not name the cemetery and did not describe the car or the gurney. Both said she was pronounced dead. The injection marks are what both say police and the hospital saw. They are not a completed autopsy report in either story.
News 12 added what friends said after the death, which CBS New York's Thursday story does not. The station said friends and family described Messam as a devoted wife, mother and hardworking state employee, and that friends remembered her as someone who "lit the room with her presence." That is recollection. It is not evidence about the procedure. CBS New York's account of the complaint is the only place Thursday's coverage puts Leslie's hands on a syringe. News 12's account stops at the arrest and the old hospital story. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff's officials named Edward Villa as the suspect after Katie Kinder, her son and her mother were found shot to death in Happy Valley.
Thursday's briefing names the three people and names Villa as the only suspect. The warrant was three counts of first-degree murder. He was found dead before an arrest. KPTV, citing Warrenton police, called it an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. KGW reported Detective Matt Lysaght would not go past a gunshot deputies heard, a firearm in the room, and the fact that no officer fired. KPTV and OPB call the motel the South Jetty Inn. The Oregonian calls it the South Jetty Motel.

An Oahu grand jury indicted Orion Satori on a second-degree murder charge in the Young Street stabbing of Kiril Stoimenov.
An indictment means a grand jury found enough to send the case forward. It is not a finding of guilt. Police have said Satori did the stabbing, according to Hawaii News Now. The next step is arraignment, where he will be asked to enter a plea. Second-degree murder in Hawaii carries a maximum of life with the possibility of parole, the station reported.
