Amarillo police booked Allen Plumlee on aggravated kidnapping and a third-or-more DWI after a Sunday night crash.

NewsChannel 10 reported that Allen Plumlee, 43, was arrested by Amarillo police around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, and booked into the Potter County Jail. The charges are driving while intoxicated, third or more, aggravated kidnapping to facilitate another crime, and interfering with emergency assistance. Police say he crashed a truck and then forced a woman to drive him from a cemetery to a convenience store.

An aggravated-kidnapping booking is an accusation. It is not a conviction. The arrest report says a woman told officers she drove because she feared for her life. That statement is the state's account of the ride. It has not been tested in court.

NewsChannel 10, citing the Potter County Jail arrest report, said officers were first called to East I-40 and South Whitaker Road for a vehicle that crashed into a gas meter. A caller said a man in a black jacket and blue jeans walked toward Memorial Park Cemetery. Inside the wrecked vehicle, officers found an open alcohol bottle and documents with Plumlee's name.

While that scene was still open, another 911 call came from the Cefco at West I-40 and Bell Street. The station reported that the woman told officers Plumlee got into her car at the cemetery, yelled at her to drive after she said no, and that she complied because she feared for her life. She said she heard him on the phone saying he was not going back to prison and telling someone not to say anything because he was drunk and had wrecked his truck. When he got out for a beer and told her not to leave, she drove off and called 911. Officers later found him near Plains Boulevard and Wolflin Avenue. He failed three sobriety tests, was treated for a broken hand at Northwest Texas Hospital, and was booked. The station reported prior DWI convictions in Hood and Tarrant counties from 2007 to 2016.

Those earlier convictions are history a prosecutor can offer on a third-or-more DWI count. They are not proof of the kidnapping allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

A Bettendorf credit union employee is charged with taking $28,326.28 from customer accounts, most of them belonging to people who had died.

A theft filing built from account records is an accusation. It is not a finding that every dollar in the complaint moved the way police describe. KWQC reported that one account lost $21,279.51 and that the total across seven accounts was $28,326.28, six of them belonging to people who had died. Those figures are what the charging papers claim.
