A federal judge sentenced Andreaus Benard Oliver Jr. to 14 years in a China-to-Georgia synthetic-drug case.
Andreaus Benard Oliver Jr., also known as Dray Oliver, 27, of Cordele, Georgia, was sentenced Oct. 1 to 168 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. The Middle District of Georgia said the term runs consecutive to an undischarged Crisp County probation-violation sentence.

A federal sentence after a guilty plea is a conviction result, not an open accusation. The Justice Department said Oliver Jr.'s Cordele residence on 4th Avenue was used as a conversion lab for synthetic cannabinoids ordered from China and paid for with cryptocurrency. WALB and WGXA summarized the same sentencing announcement. Statutory background on co-defendants still at large remains allegation until proved.
U.S. Attorney William R. Keyes's office said Oliver Jr. was sentenced Oct. 1 before U.S. District Judge Tilman E. Self III after an April 15 guilty plea to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. The announced term is 168 months, followed by three years of supervised release, consecutive to Crisp County Superior Court Case No. 19R-434. A consecutive state term is a custody stack. It is not a new trial finding on the federal count.
Prosecutors said the organization acquired synthetic cannabinoids and fentanyl from China beginning in 2023. Shipments arrived at Oliver Jr.'s Cordele address. A July 22, 2024 search, the department said, found more than 175 metal pans, liquid cannabinoids, more than 350 dried sheets of paper soaked with cannabinoids, attorney-style return labels, inmate shipping labels, cash, and ledgers. That inventory is what agents said they seized. It is the factual basis the court accepted with the plea, as the government describes it.
Co-conspirator sentences already entered include Andreaus Benard Oliver Sr. at 210 months, Devito Duran Young at 327 months, and Trace Davrin Works at 262 months. Xin Wang and Gao Yong of China remain charged and at large on the department's account. WALB reported the father-and-son Cordele angle the same day. An at-large indictment is still an accusation for those two defendants. Anyone who still faces charges is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
