Four attempted-murder counts are the charges on the booking. They are not a finding that Tanaka fired, and a line in a complaint is not testimony a jury has heard. KCCI reported the bond is $1 million cash only. The woman who was shot has not been named, and the Department of Public Safety said her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. A judge still has to decide what the complaint supports.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety said Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, that shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 5, the Warren County Sheriff's Office, West Des Moines police, and the Iowa State Patrol responded to shots fired on Interstate 35 near the 56-mile marker. Officers found an adult woman with an apparent gunshot wound and more than one vehicle struck by gunfire. She was taken to a hospital. The department said her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. She has not been named. Near the 62-mile marker, the department said, officers found Andrew Tanaka, 27, of West Des Moines, after his vehicle struck another and became disabled. He was on the shoulder, armed with a handgun, and was taken into custody without further incident. He is in the Warren County Jail facing four counts of attempted murder.

KCCI, citing the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, reported the response was shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday and that the woman was struck in her right shoulder. An earlier account from Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Alex Dinkla, which KCCI also published, put the shooting around 3:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes near the Bevington exit and said the closure ran from St. Charles to Cumming, about 16 miles. Northbound lanes reopened just after 8 p.m., KCCI reported. CBS2 Iowa described the same afternoon as Sunday. The Department of Public Safety release and KCCI place it on Monday, Oct. 5. Those are two descriptions of the day. The release is the department's date.

KCCI, citing a criminal complaint, reported that Tanaka shot two rounds into the driver's side window of a Subaru Outback and one round into the driver's side window of a BMW, then rear-ended a Nissan Altima carrying two people. After those two got out, the complaint says, he got out of his vehicle and fired at least one round into the Altima's windshield. The complaint, as KCCI reported it, says he told law enforcement, "I had to kill people today." A separate KCCI story reported the documents show a $1 million cash-only bond. A quoted line in a complaint is what the state says he told officers after the arrest. It is not a plea. The Warren County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are still investigating, the department said. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
