FOX 5 New York, ABC7, CBS New York, and NBC New York reported that Angel Carrasco, 31, was taken into custody around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, in the death of Nathaly Ramirez, 23. An arrest is custody and a set of charges. It is not a conviction, and the accounts used here do not describe a plea. FOX 5 New York and NBC New York listed murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, and assault. CBS New York's list was shorter: murder, attempted murder, and assault. The child is alive. What a court still has to decide is what the state can prove about who pushed, and why.
FOX 5 New York reported that Angel Carrasco, 31, was taken into custody just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, and was being held at the 49th Precinct in the Bronx. ABC7 reported the arrest was about 10:30 p.m., by members of the Regional Fugitive Task Force, after a close friend went to that precinct and told detectives where Carrasco was hiding. CBS New York, citing police sources, reported he was found at a friend's home in the Bronx. NBC New York reported the NYPD and the U.S. Marshals Service tracked him down late Wednesday. ABC7 reported that on Thursday afternoon he was walked out of the precinct and seemed to smile for cameras, and that he was expected to be arraigned Thursday. NBC New York reported he grinned as he was taken to court Thursday afternoon. Those reports describe an arrest and a walk to court. They do not describe a plea.
FOX 5 New York reported that Ramirez, 23, and the 8-month-old were discovered just after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in a courtyard behind the Allerville Arms at 2550 Olinville Avenue in the Allerton section, and that police at the time said the injuries were "consistent with a fall from an elevated position." CBS New York reported officers were called just before 3:40 a.m., found Ramirez and her daughter on the ground with injuries "consistent with a fall," and that further investigation showed the two were pushed. FOX 5, ABC7, and NBC New York reported she was holding the child when she went off a 15th-floor balcony. CBS New York, citing police sources, reported Carrasco is Ramirez's ex-boyfriend and the baby's father. The child is not named here.
ABC7 reported Thursday that the girl was in stable condition and had improved enough to be transferred by helicopter from Jacobi Hospital to Cohen Children's Medical Center in Glen Oaks. NBC New York's earlier account said she was still in critical condition as of Wednesday and that authorities believe her mother's body may have cushioned the fall. That is what those stations reported about her condition. It is not a medical record. ABC7 reported detectives recovered flowers inside the apartment and believe Carrasco had brought them to try to reconcile after recent disputes. FOX 5 New York, citing sources, reported a history of domestic violence and prior police calls to the apartment. ABC7 reported that in January Carrasco was charged with slapping Ramirez during a dispute involving his ex-girlfriend, and that days later he was charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into her apartment while looking for her. Those are prior accusations as ABC7 described them. They are not a verdict in this case.
CBS New York and NBC New York reported a statement from U.S. Marshal Ricky J. Patel: "This horrific tragedy weighs heavily on every team member who worked this case. We owed it to the brave mother who gave her life to save her child from a vicious individual." CBS New York also reported that he said taking the suspect off the street "ensures he will answer for his alleged heinous actions." NBC New York reported a neighbor in the building said she heard Ramirez yell, "Please don't do this. My baby. You know my baby is scared. Look at her face." A neighbor's account and a marshal's statement are part of the public record of the arrest. They are not a finding entered in court. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
