NYPD arrested Anna Mochalova in two Midtown attacks on Jewish men, including a syringe stabbing in the Diamond District.
Mochalova, 32, of Brooklyn, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, and charged with assault, menacing, aggravated harassment and weapon possession, an NYPD spokesperson told JNS. The New York Post reported the charges include assault as a hate crime. Both Wednesday attacks are being investigated by the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force.

The outlets don't agree on the times or on the first location. The Post put the Diamond District stabbing around 6 p.m. and the first attack two hours earlier at West 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue. The NYPD email JNS quoted put the stabbing call at about 7:50 p.m. and the first attack at about 5:50 p.m. at West 45th Street and Sixth Avenue. JNS said the spokesperson didn't say whether hate-crime enhancements were filed. A charge is not a conviction.
Anna Mochalova, 32, of Brooklyn, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, within the Midtown North Precinct, an NYPD spokesperson told JNS on Sunday. JNS reported she was charged with eight counts of assault, eight counts of menacing, two counts of aggravated harassment and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. The New York Post reported the charges include assault as a hate crime, and that she was awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court on Sunday. JNS reported the spokesperson did not say whether any of the charges carried hate-crime enhancements.
Police say the arrest covers two attacks on Wednesday, Oct. 21. In the Diamond District, a 26-year-old man in traditional Hasidic clothing was stabbed in the back in front of 15 West 47th Street, CBS New York and JNS reported. CBS New York reported he told investigators the woman was speaking Russian and making harassing statements, that he tried to walk away, and that investigators believed the object was a syringe. JNS reported the NYPD said an "unknown sharp object" was used and that he was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. The Post reported the man, a rabbi who does Jewish outreach on that street, told the paper he believes he was targeted because he is "visibly Jewish." The Post agreed not to use his last name, and Crime Talk Network is not naming him.
The accounts differ on timing. CBS New York reported the Diamond District attack happened just before 6 p.m., and the Post reported around 6 p.m. JNS quoted a Sunday NYPD email saying officers responded at about 7:50 p.m. In that email, police also described an assault reported at about 5:50 p.m. at West 45th Street and Avenue of the Americas: a 37-year-old man said someone deliberately collided with him and, when he confronted the person, cut his forearm with a sharp object. He declined medical attention. The Post placed that first attack at West 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue, two hours before the stabbing, and reported the attacker spoke Russian.
Surveillance video obtained by CBS New York appears to show a woman following the man along the sidewalk and thrusting her hand toward his back. Before the arrest, CBS New York reported police had described the suspect as a woman in her 40s. JNS reported the Manhattan Shomrim volunteer safety patrol announced the arrest Saturday evening and credited the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force, Shomrim groups in Crown Heights and Queens, and tips from the public.
The Post reported the man returned to the Diamond District the next day to continue his outreach. The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating both attacks as antisemitic, the Post reported. The counts against Mochalova are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Twelve people were hurt, 11 of them shot, near Florida A&M's Bragg Memorial Stadium after the homecoming game.
What police have said is limited. Revell described an altercation among two or three people and called it an isolated incident, according to the outlets at his overnight briefing. As of Sunday morning nobody was in custody, no one had been named as a suspect, and one person remained in critical condition. No one was killed.

Atlanta police charged Nikolai Dunford with first-degree vehicular homicide in the crash that killed Clark Atlanta student Morgan Gamble.
The speed is the core of the police account, and it comes from police, not a court. The Daily Mail reported the 94-mph figure from Atlanta police. Gamble's sister was quoted citing 95 in a 30 zone, which is the family's words, not the police figure. Dunford's lawyer has asked that the process be allowed to proceed carefully and fairly. A charge is not a conviction.

Passaic County prosecutors charged Edwin Betancur with murder in the Paterson shooting of Joshua Fernandez.
Sunday's announcement is an arrest and a charging decision. It does not include a motive, a witness account, or a court date. The Paterson Times printed the statutory exposure on each count. That is the range a conviction can bring. It is not a sentence. A charge is not a conviction.
