A Mobile County jury found Anthony MacPherson guilty of manslaughter in the Thanksgiving 2020 shooting of Tavon Holder.

NBC 15 reported Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, that the jury convicted MacPherson of manslaughter, a lesser-included offense of murder, and of distribution of a controlled substance. Sentencing is set for Dec. 14. FOX10 News reported the same two findings.

Murder is the count the jury did not return. Manslaughter and distribution are the guilty findings. Dec. 14 is the date set for sentencing, and no term has been imposed. The sale, the gun, the struggle and the two shots are the trial account NBC 15 and FOX10 News published. A 2020 Mobile police release described the call as one shot.

A Mobile County jury on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, found Anthony MacPherson guilty of manslaughter and of distribution of a controlled substance in the Thanksgiving 2020 shooting death of Tavon Holder, NBC 15 reported. FOX10 News reported the same convictions and said sentencing is Dec. 14. NBC 15 reported he had been charged with murder, and that manslaughter was the lesser-included offense the jury returned when the trial ended this week. FOX10 News reported the jury had broken for the night during deliberations before the Thursday verdict.

NBC 15 reported the trial evidence showed MacPherson and three other people drove to Holder's apartment complex to carry out a marijuana sale. After Holder took the marijuana, MacPherson pulled out a gun, a struggle followed, and MacPherson shot Holder twice in the back, the station reported. FOX10 News attributed that same sequence to court documents. In its account of the prosecution case before the verdict, FOX10 News reported prosecutors alleged MacPherson met Holder on Thanksgiving Day 2020 to sell him marijuana and then shot him in the back at an apartment complex off Old Pascagoula Road. Neither outlet named the three other people.

Mobile police, in a release dated Nov. 30, 2020, said officers were called about 6 p.m. on Nov. 26, 2020, to the 7500 block of Old Pascagoula Road for a report of one shot. They found Holder unresponsive, and medical personnel pronounced him dead. The release identified him as 19. It spelled the last name of the man later convicted as Macpherson. NBC 15 and FOX10 News spell it MacPherson in this week's verdict stories. The "one shot" wording is the 2020 call. The two shots in the back are what the trial coverage says the evidence showed.

District Attorney Keith Blackwood said, as NBC 15 quoted him, "We see far too many situations escalate to gun violence, leaving someone dead and a family forever changed." He also said, "It must stop. Pulling out a gun turns a confrontation into a tragedy that cannot be undone." Those are his words about the case. Thursday's result is the jury's verdict. The sentence has not been imposed. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Isaac Apodaca adjusts his tie in a Santa Fe courtroom
Trials

By Crime Talk Network Staff Writer

A Santa Fe judge sentenced Isaac Apodaca to life in prison plus 15 years in the sword killing of Grace Jennings.

The term The New Mexican reported from Thursday's hearing is life plus 15 years, consecutive, with the 15-year sentence served first. That is the judgment the paper says Judge Ellington imposed. KOAT's July 15 story still had the hearing on Aug. 24 and described the exposure as up to life. Kiara McCulley's 30-year figure is not in the same tense in every account: KOAT said in July that she is serving it, and The New Mexican said Thursday that she is expected to receive it.

A Fort Wayne jury found Domonique Drew guilty of murder in the gas station shooting of Scott Reed Armstrong.

Thursday's verdict is the jury's finding on the murder count and the firearm enhancement. The sentence has not been imposed. The surveillance video, the witness identification and the apology letter described in court records are the prosecution's account that the jury accepted. Drew's statement to police that the victim spat on him is his account. The jury did not credit it as a defense to murder.

Kevin Jaimes Martinez was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in a Knoxville laundromat shooting.

The conviction and life term came the same day, according to the district attorney. Under Tennessee law, a life sentence means 51 years before parole eligibility, WBIR reported. The stolen-phone motive is the prosecution's account of why the shooting happened. WBIR's report did not name the man who was killed.
