A grand jury indictment and a not-guilty plea are not a conviction. Alleged body-worn-camera and reporting failures are facts to litigate, not a verdict. Former Phoenix police officers Antonio Felix and Luis Vasquez were indicted Aug. 31 on aggravated-assault, kidnapping, and related counts, in Arizona's Family reporting dated Sept. 10, 2026.

Arizona's Family, citing court paperwork, says a grand jury indicted Felix and Vasquez on Aug. 31. Luis Vasquez is identified as Luis Vasquez Jr. in a photo caption. The counts, as reported, are three counts of aggravated assault, two felony counts of kidnapping, one felony count of criminal damage, one felony count of tampering with physical evidence, one felony count of conspiracy to commit first-degree hindering prosecution, and one misdemeanor count of threatening or intimidating. An indictment list is a charging document. It is not a finding on any count.

The same paperwork alleges an Aug. 5 off-the-books traffic stop of a man and a woman in a Dodge Charger near 15th Avenue and Broadway. Vasquez allegedly held the man at gunpoint, damaged the driver's window, and injured him. Felix allegedly arm-barred and handcuffed the woman, used a stun gun, pushed her down, and put her in the back of a police car. The paperwork also alleges a cellphone was destroyed or concealed, that neither officer activated a body-worn camera, and that there was no radio traffic, no call for service, no use-of-force report, and no supervisor notification. Every one of those acts is an allegation. An inactive body-worn camera and a missing report are facts the prosecution still has to prove. They are not a verdict.

Both had been South Mountain Precinct patrol officers, Vasquez for eight years and Felix for nine. Vasquez is an Army veteran, as reported. They were fired and arrested weeks after the alleged stop, then released on bail. They pleaded not guilty earlier in the week of the Sept. 10 reporting. The next court date is in November. Years on the job, an Army record, a firing, an arrest, and a bail release are background and process. They do not prove aggravated assault, kidnapping, or any other count. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
