Antwone Dukes was denied bond on two murder charges in a shooting outside a Sumter Dollar General.
WIS reported that Antwone Dukes, 22, was denied bond on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, and is held at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center. He is charged with two counts of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in a Tuesday night shooting on Race Track Road. WACH and WIS do not spell the second victim's name the same way.

A Friday bond denial is a custody order on a case that is still at the charging stage. Chief Deputy Hampton Gardner told WIS the shooting was a planned robbery over gun switches. Sheriff Anthony Dennis told WACH that investigators are still sorting out the circumstances and the relationships. The stations also do not agree on whether the 19-year-old who died is named Derek Parson or Eric Parson. A conflict that basic belongs in the record before anyone treats the police account as settled.
WIS reported that Antwone Dukes, 22, was denied bond on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, and that records show he is being held at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center. He faces murder counts and a weapon count in a Tuesday shooting at a Dollar General on Race Track Road. WACH reported Friday morning that he was set to appear in Sumter County bond court at 8 a.m., that deputies arrested him around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and that the charges are two counts of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. ABC Columbia reported the same two murder counts and the same weapon count, and its story still said he was awaiting a bond hearing. WIS is the account that says the hearing happened and bond was denied. A denial of bond decides where he sleeps. It does not decide the charges.
WACH reported that deputies were called around 10:48 p.m. Tuesday to the Dollar General near Race Track Road and U.S. 521. The first call was a vehicle that had crashed into a tree. Deputies found 20-year-old Keywaun Clark with a gunshot wound, and he died at the scene. Investigators said Clark was parked behind the store when he was shot, and that the vehicle then moved forward into the tree, WACH reported. While deputies were there, a hospital told dispatchers that two more people had arrived with gunshot wounds. Dukes had been shot in the leg, WACH and WIS reported. The second person who was shot died after reaching the hospital. WACH named him as 19-year-old Eric Parson. WIS and ABC Columbia named him as 19-year-old Derek Parson. The age and the death match. The first name does not. That is a records conflict, not a detail to smooth over.
The sheriff's office has described the shooting as a robbery that was planned. WIS reported that Chief Deputy Hampton Gardner said Dukes was meeting Clark in order to rob him of gun switches, devices that convert a semiautomatic firearm so it can fire as a fully automatic weapon, and that Dukes shot both Clark and the 19-year-old. WACH reported that investigators believe the shooting grew out of a planned transaction involving those devices, that the devices were found in Dukes's vehicle, and that investigators believe he may have intended to rob the men at gunpoint and shot both of them. Sheriff Anthony Dennis said investigators were still working to determine the circumstances, including how the people involved knew one another, WACH reported. Gardner's account and Dennis's account are both from the department. They are not identical, and neither is a jury finding.
WIS also reported that Gardner said Dukes is the son of a former Sumter County sheriff's deputy and that his uncle is a current deputy with the department. Gardner put that relationship on the record. The outlets used here do not report that another agency was asked to take the investigation. ABC Columbia reported he was arrested after he was taken to the hospital and that the investigation is continuing. He is charged. He has not been convicted. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
