A sentence after a jury conviction is the judgment on the counts the jury found. On Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, in Pima County, a judge sentenced Bariki Hopkins to life plus 32 years for the murder of Anisa Moreno, 26. The May jury found him guilty of second-degree murder and of possessing a firearm as a prohibited possessor. News 4 Tucson reported that he becomes eligible for parole after 35 years. The sentence is the judgment.

News 4 Tucson reported that the judge issued maximum sentences on four counts. Count 1 is 27 years. Count 2 is life in prison plus two years, with possible release after 35 years. Count 3 is 30 years. Count 4 is 14 years. The first, third, and fourth counts run at the same time as each other and must be served after Count 2. That structure is the life-plus-32-years judgment. KOLD News 13 reported the same life-plus-32-years term, with the possibility of parole in 35 years, and reported that Hopkins was convicted in May on four counts, including two counts of second-degree murder, with three counts concurrent to each other and consecutive to one second-degree murder count.

News 4 Tucson, citing the Tucson Police Department, reported that Hopkins and Moreno lived together, that an argument escalated, and that Hopkins shot Moreno in the back of the head. KOLD News 13 reported the date as Jan. 30, 2025. Moreno was 26. News 4 Tucson reported that she was pregnant at the time of her death. Those are the reported facts behind the counts the jury found in May. The Monday sentence is the judgment on that conviction.

News 4 Tucson reported that Hopkins also faces a previous case accusing him of aggravated driving under the influence, criminal damage, and endangerment, with a trial set for Feb. 9, 2027. He will remain in the Pima County jail until that case is resolved. Those counts are still accusations. They are separate from Monday's murder judgment. News 4 Tucson also reported that in June the judge determined Hopkins had prior convictions that could lead to a longer sentence.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
