A jury's guilty verdicts are findings after trial. They are not the sentence, and Jan. 5, 2027, is still ahead. On Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, Breanna Rowley, 24, of Vineland, was convicted of first-degree murder and second-degree vehicular homicide in the hit-and-run death of Caroline Bump, 21, of Millville. NJ 101.5 and News 12 New Jersey reported the two-week trial was held in Atlantic County Superior Court. She faces 30 years to life. The court has not imposed a term.
NJ 101.5 reported that on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, after a two-week jury trial, Breanna Rowley, 24, of Vineland, was found guilty of first-degree homicide and second-degree vehicular homicide in the death of Caroline Bump, 21, of Millville, and guilty on every other count in the case. News 12 New Jersey, citing the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, reported the murder verdict and convictions for vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, endangering an injured victim, two weapons offenses, obstruction, hindering apprehension, and evidence tampering. The trial was in Atlantic County Superior Court because Bump worked for the Cumberland County Probation Division, News 12 New Jersey reported. NJ 101.5 reported sentencing is Jan. 5, 2027, and that she faces 30 years to life. News 12 New Jersey reported prosecutors described a mandatory 30 years before parole eligibility. That is the exposure on the murder count. It is not a sentence until the court imposes one.
The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, as reported by News 12 New Jersey and Daily Voice, said that at 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2024, Rowley struck Bump while Bump was standing in the roadway near 701 Glenside Road in Millville. The two were dating. Prosecutors said Rowley then stopped about 100 yards down the road, got out, walked back toward where Bump had been hit, and drove off without seeking help. Bump's body was found about two and a half hours later by a passing driver. Prosecutors said Rowley drove the damaged car to a residence in Monroeville, in Salem County, hid it in a farm field, and tried to repair it before investigators found it on Oct. 24, 2024. NJ 101.5 reported she was in a silver 2003 Infiniti G35 and that the impact threw Bump 50 to 75 feet. Those are the facts the State put to the jury. The guilty verdicts are the jury's findings on those counts. They are not the prison term.
NJ 101.5 listed the remaining convictions as second-degree leaving the scene of a crash that killed someone, third-degree endangering an injured victim, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, fourth-degree obstruction, third-degree hindering apprehension, and fourth-degree tampering with evidence. NJ 101.5 reported the State was represented by Cumberland County Executive Assistant Prosecutor Lesley Snock and Assistant Prosecutor Caitlin Flynn. A list of guilty counts is the verdict. Jan. 5, 2027, is when the court is scheduled to impose sentence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
