South Carolina agents charged Rep. Nancy Mace's ex-fiance and two business associates in a 2018 Sullivan's Island case she described on the House floor.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, that Brendan Patrick Bryant, 53, Eric Bernard Bowman, 46, and John Douglas Osborne, 46, were booked into the Charleston County jail. Bryant is charged with voyeurism. Bowman faces voyeurism, obstruction and a victim-identity count. Osborne faces first-degree assault and battery and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Mace named these men in a February 2025 floor speech. Twenty months later, the state put its own version into sworn warrants. The warrants are narrower than the speech: they cover one 2018 night and one woman, and they do not charge Bryant with harming Mace.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division announced Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, that it charged three Charleston County men and booked them into the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center. SLED listed the charges this way: John Douglas Osborne, 46, first-degree assault and battery and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct; Brendan Patrick Bryant, 53, voyeurism; and Eric Bernard Bowman, 46, voyeurism, obstruction of justice and publishing the name of a victim of criminal sexual conduct. The 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office will prosecute.
Bryant is the former fiance of U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C. The Associated Press and WJCL reported that Mace named the men during a nearly hourlong House floor speech in February 2025. That speech was protected by the Constitution's speech or debate clause. At the time, Bryant told the AP, "I categorically deny these allegations," and said he would cooperate with any legal process to clear his name.
According to the warrants, as reported by WJCL and Live 5 News, the case centers on the early morning of Oct. 26, 2018, at a home on Sullivan's Island. Agents allege a 23-year-old woman became severely intoxicated, fell into a swimming pool and later lost consciousness on a sofa, unable to consent. Agents allege Osborne sexually assaulted her while Bryant and Bowman watched and appeared to photograph or record her. A witness watching a home security feed allegedly saved two still images and wrote a journal entry about what she saw, the affidavits say. Crime Talk Network does not name the woman.
Bowman's obstruction count stems from a phone. Live 5 News reported that SLED searched his Sullivan's Island home on March 20, 2025, that the phone he was using was not there, and that the device his lawyer later turned over had been factory reset on March 23. The warrant also accuses Bowman of posting the woman's name and an identifying video on X in March 2025 while he knew SLED was investigating.
Live 5 News reported that all three men appeared in bond court Wednesday morning. Bond was set at $225,000 for Osborne, $50,000 for Bryant and $175,000 for Bowman. WJCL reported the warrants do not charge Bryant with physically or sexually assaulting Mace, and that a fourth man named in the speech has not been charged in this case. Mace's office released a statement focused on her legislation for survivors: "Every survivor deserves to be heard. Every victim deserves justice. Every predator deserves accountability."
These are charges supported by sworn affidavits, not findings by a judge or jury. Each man is entitled to contest every allegation in court. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Punjab police arrested Jobanpreet Singh in Mumbai in the Mad Sandhu murder investigation.
An arrest and a weapons recovery are investigative steps. They are not a conviction. Police say 11 people, including one of the shooters, have now been arrested in the Sandhu case. Foreign-based handlers remain under investigation, according to those reports.

Federal prosecutors charged 16 alleged YNS gang members and affiliates in Houston with drug, robbery, and gun counts.
An indictment is a grand jury's accusation. A criminal complaint is a prosecutor's charging paper filed without that vote. Only six of the 16 are in the indictment. What a magistrate heard at a detention hearing, including a stash-house plot and a claimed link to a carjacking, is testimony offered to decide who stays in jail. It is not a trial verdict. Defense lawyers told KHOU the FBI built the cases with setups.

Cornell's president said he knew in November 2024 about the Chi Phi report and did not follow up.
An interview is the president's account of what he knew and what he did not ask. It is not a finding about what happened at the Chi Phi house, and it is not a criminal charge. Kotlikoff said he is sorry, that he understands the anger, and that he is not resigning. The seven men named in the civil lawsuit have denied wrongdoing. None of them has been charged. Oct. 29 is the date a judge hears whether James stays on the investigation.
