Friday's not-guilty plea is what CBS Detroit reported from court. The Oakland Press described the next date as a probable cause conference and did not print the plea. C&G Newspapers reported he asked for a court-appointed lawyer who had not been assigned as of Friday. The murder count is still pending. Nov. 5 is a calendar date, not a trial.
CBS Detroit reported Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, that Breylon Roberts, 21, pleaded not guilty to first-degree premeditated murder and felony firearm in the death of his brother, Trey Roberts, 23. The station reported he is being held without bond and is scheduled to return to court Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. before Judge Arvant. The Oakland Press reported he is charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm, that he is jailed without bond, and that he is due back in 46th District Court for a probable cause conference before Judge Cynthia Arvant. C&G Newspapers reported the Nov. 5 date at 9 a.m. before Judge Cynthia Arvant, and reported Roberts requested a court-appointed attorney who had not yet been assigned as of Friday. CBS Detroit's account of Friday is a not-guilty plea. The Oakland Press's account of the next date is a probable cause conference. C&G Newspapers did not print the words not guilty.
The Oakland Press, citing the Southfield Police Department, reported officers found Trey Roberts lying facedown in the kitchen of a home in the 17000 block of Dorset Avenue just after 3 p.m. on Oct. 19. The paper reported he had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. CBS Detroit reported the home is on Dorset Avenue and did not print the block number. CBS Detroit, The Oakland Press and C&G Newspapers reported investigators recovered 17 spent 9mm shell casings in the kitchen. CBS Detroit reported a privately made firearm was later recovered from a vehicle belonging to Breylon Roberts, and that ballistic testing matched that firearm to evidence from the scene. The Oakland Press reported officers found a black handgun with an empty magazine under the driver's seat of a Jeep Grand Cherokee parked in the driveway, and that police believe that gun was used. C&G Newspapers reported the handgun had three serial numbers and appeared to contain components from multiple firearms, and that Chief Elvin Barren said ballistic analysis matched the casings to that handgun. A match described at a press conference is an investigative claim. It has not been tested at a trial.
The Oakland Press reported surveillance audio of 17 gunshots at about 12:46 p.m., and video of Breylon Roberts leaving with a dog a minute later, then returning, entering the rear of the home and the backseat of the Jeep, and driving away. The paper reported that, based on witness statements, he went to a family member's residence, was "acting weird," took a shower, and returned. C&G Newspapers reported a neighbor's Ring doorbell picked up the shots at 12:46 p.m., that he left at 12:47 p.m., that he returned about 1 p.m. and then went to a relative's home in the 18000 block of West 12 Mile Road, and that he returned to Dorset about 3:06 p.m. C&G Newspapers reported officers arrived about 3:02 p.m. Chief Elvin Barren said the conflict was "reportedly related to the perceptions of the victim having greater success," C&G Newspapers reported, and said, "It brings to mind a biblical context like Cain and Abel, where he killed his brother due to jealousy." CBS Detroit reported Barren made the same comparison and described years of conflict between the brothers. Barren told C&G Newspapers, "This is a sound investigation," and, "We have the right person in custody and he will be held accountable." Those are the chief's statements from Friday's press conference. The not-guilty plea leaves the charges pending. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Judge Phaedra Perry-Bond ruled the Cornell plaintiff may keep proceeding as Jane Doe.
Friday's order is about the name on the civil caption. It does not decide whether the allegations are true, and it does not file a criminal charge. CBS News reported the judge invited a request to extend anonymity to the defendants. That invitation does not take their names off the docket until a judge signs an order that does.

Dennis Arguello-Acosta pleaded guilty in the hit-and-run death of Fort Bend County Deputy Kenneth Lewis and received 12 years.
A guilty plea to failure to stop and render aid is the conviction on that count. Twelve years is the term FOX 26 reported he agreed to. It is not a murder plea. The station's Friday account does not say whether the tampering count Houston police announced in March was part of the deal, dismissed, or still open.

FOX 5 Atlanta reported Xavier Bryant was arrested on a murder warrant after a Johns Creek standoff.
Friday's arrest is the fourth name FOX 5 Atlanta and CBS Atlanta put on this case. Brian Wingo, Charles Lewis and Ky-Mani Goodings were already booked on murder and armed robbery after a Cobb County chase the morning of the shooting. Bryant's warrants are charges. They are not a finding that he fired the shots, and the man who died has not been named by either station.
