A Baltimore judge sentenced Cassandra McRae to 140 years for orchestrating a triple shooting that killed Anntoinette Jennings.
CBS Baltimore and The Banner reported that on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, Baltimore Circuit Judge Dana Middleton ordered Cassandra McRae, 38, to serve 140 years, with the first 25 years without the possibility of parole, after a jury convicted her of second-degree murder and related counts in the Jan. 22, 2025 shooting on York Road that killed pre-K paraeducator Anntoinette Jennings, 52, and wounded two others, including an 11-year-old.

A sentence after a guilty verdict is the court's outcome on those counts. McRae told the court she was innocent. Judge Middleton called her the catalyst even though she did not fire the gun. Co-defendant Tavon Singleton was acquitted. One suspected shooter remains at large, according to the State's Attorney's Office.
CBS Baltimore reported Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, that the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office announced a 140-year sentence for Cassandra McRae, 38, with the first 25 years without the possibility of parole. The Banner reported the sentencing hearing was Tuesday, Oct. 13, before Baltimore Circuit Judge Dana Middleton. WMAR reported the structure as 150 years with all but 140 years suspended. Those are the sentence figures the outlets published.
The Banner and CBS Baltimore reported that Jennings, a grandmother and pre-K paraeducator at Waverly Elementary/Middle School, was killed in a Jan. 22, 2025 shooting in the 5400 block of York Road after an altercation at a children's basketball game. Her son and granddaughter, then 29 and 11, were wounded. A daughter and a 6-year-old grandson in the vehicle were not shot, The Banner reported. CBS Baltimore said McRae was convicted of second-degree murder, four counts of conspiracy to commit murder, four counts of attempted second-degree murder, five firearm counts, and reckless endangerment.
Prosecutors, as summarized by CBS Baltimore and The Banner, said surveillance showed McRae enter a gray sedan that followed the family's vehicle, then approach the SUV, point, and say, "There they go right there," before a male suspect opened fire. One co-defendant, Tavon Singleton, was acquitted of all charges. Another suspect remains at large, the State's Attorney's Office said. McRae proclaimed her innocence in court, The Banner reported. State's Attorney Ivan Bates said the 140-year term reflects the consequences of her actions. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Davy Spencer Jr. pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the Wilmington stabbing that killed Marine Daniel Montano.
A negotiated guilty plea to second-degree murder is a conviction on that count, and the prison term is the sentence. WECT reported the range is 251 to 314 months, with credit for 185 days already served. The two assault counts cover fellow Marines who were with Montano that night. Montano's sister and father spoke at the hearing and asked for no mercy.

A Utah judge ordered Matthew Scott Alder to stand trial for manslaughter in Afa Ah Loo's No Kings protest death.
A bindover after a preliminary hearing means the judge found enough evidence to send the case to trial. It is not a conviction. Prosecutors say Alder, an armed security volunteer at the June 14, 2025 No Kings protest, fired three shots toward a man with a rifle and that one shot killed Arthur "Afa" Ah Loo, 39. Alder pleaded not guilty. Salt Lake City District Attorney Sim Gill declined charges against the rifle carrier, Arturo Gamboa.

Randal Moon Jr. was sentenced to 86 years in the Delaware County killing of Michael D. Greer. Ameariss Aponte and Amy Singhas are still charged.
Moon's sentence is the judgment on his conviction. It is not a finding against the co-defendants who have not been tried. WISH-TV reported forensic evidence showed Greer was still alive when the car was set on fire. That evidence was part of the case the jury heard against Moon. Aponte's trial was postponed. Singhas is set for Nov. 16.
