KSL reported Cole Douglas Munoz, 44, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, discharge of a firearm, and being a prohibited person in possession of a weapon.

Pat Reavy's story is posted Nov. 6, 2026, at 12:41 p.m. The byline does not print a time zone. The lede says a man who police say shot a woman, and who has been in hiding for a month, was arrested early Friday. The affidavit KSL quotes says he was located late Thursday in a vehicle in Murray. The woman is not named.

Early Friday, in the lede, and late Thursday, in the affidavit, are not the same clock. In hiding for a month, in the headline and the lede, and wanted for several weeks, in the affidavit, are not the same span. A vehicle, in the police sentence, and the truck, in the affidavit, are not the same word. The woman is not named.

KSL, by Pat Reavy, posted November 6, 2026, at 12:41 p.m., reported Cole Douglas Munoz, 44, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, discharge of a firearm, and being a prohibited person in possession of a weapon. The byline did not print a time zone. The headline calls him an alleged gunman in hiding for a month. The lede says a man who police say shot a woman, and who has been in hiding for a month, was arrested early Friday. Alleged gunman, police say shot a woman, and booked for investigation are all on that page. They are not the same legal status. The story says that on Oct. 6, Munoz was in a Midvale apartment and got into a dispute over a debt, according to a police booking affidavit. It quotes the affidavit: "During the dispute, inside the apartment, Cole displayed a handgun and he shot the female victim…in the stomach. The victim sustained serious bodily injuries." The ellipsis is in the quotation KSL printed. Serious bodily injuries, in that quotation, and serious injury, in the booking line, are not the same phrase. The story does not print the woman's name or her age. It does not print a pronoun for her.

The story says Munoz was located late Thursday in a vehicle in Murray, according to police. It quotes the affidavit: "He was the passenger in the truck. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and it fled. A short pursuit ensued and the vehicle crashed. Cole was taken into custody without further incident." A vehicle, in the police sentence, the truck, in the first sentence of that quotation, and the vehicle, in the sentences that follow, are all in that account. The truck, and the vehicle, are not the same word. Late Thursday, in that location line, and early Friday, in the lede, are not the same clock. The story says a loaded gun was found on the floor behind the rear passenger seat, and it attributes that sentence to police. Found on the floor is not the booking line that he is under investigation for being a prohibited person in possession of a weapon. The story quotes the affidavit: "Cole has been wanted for several weeks. He has been hiding out to avoid being located by law enforcement and he has already fled in a vehicle (from) law enforcement as well. Within the past 24 hours, Cole was also identified as a suspect in an aggravated assault domestic case out of Salt Lake City Police Department. That incident is still being investigated." Several weeks, and in hiding for a month, are not the same span. The parenthetical "(from)" is in the quotation KSL printed. A flight the affidavit says has already happened, and the short pursuit after the Murray stop, are both in that affidavit. The quotation separates them with "as well." The Salt Lake City case is described as still being investigated. It is not one of the three investigation labels on the Salt Lake County booking.

The booking is what KSL reported. The story does not print a filed charge document, a plea, a bond, a lawyer, or a court date. The woman is not named. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

WJLA says Judge Neal Kravitz found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. NBC4 says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Voluntary manslaughter while armed, and voluntary manslaughter, and manslaughter, are not the same count. A bench outside Father O'Connell Hall, and a park on the campus, and a small plaza by that hall, and the 600 block of Alumni Lane, are not the same place. Brookland-CUA Metro, and Brookland Metro, and Brookland-Catholic University Metro, are not the same station line. Snapchat messages, and a message, and an urgent message, are not the same account. Cash App, and cash app, and $300 with no app named, are not the same line. Judge Kravitz accepted the plea and found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. A 12-to-15-year range is not the sentence. Sentencing has not happened.
