Right now the public record is a booking and a mug shot, and the grin in that photo is getting more attention than the charge itself. What matters next is the paperwork: the warrant or affidavit, what Sevier County prosecutors actually file, and whether the charge holds, changes or goes away at a first appearance.
Cordarrelle Patterson, the former NFL running back and kick returner who won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots, was arrested and booked into the Sevier County Jail in East Tennessee early Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, on a domestic assault charge, TMZ Sports first reported. The Daily Mail and Rolling Out also reported the arrest, and the jail released his booking photo, in which Patterson is smiling at the camera.
Authorities have not publicly described what led to the arrest, who was involved or where it happened. TMZ said it had reached out to police and had not heard back, and the Daily Mail said it contacted the Sevierville Police Department for comment. As of Saturday evening, there was no public information on Patterson's bond, a first court date or whether he has retained an attorney, Rolling Out reported. Patterson has not commented publicly.
Patterson, 35, starred at the University of Tennessee after transferring there in 2012 and was a first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2013 NFL Draft. Over a career that ran through 2024, he played for the Vikings, Oakland Raiders, Patriots, Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers. He made four Pro Bowls, was a four-time first-team All-Pro, and holds the NFL record for career kickoff return touchdowns with nine. He was on the Patriots team that beat the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII.
Patterson is not on an NFL roster, so the arrest does not involve a team. Any formal charging decision will come from Sevier County authorities, and domestic charges can be amended or dropped as prosecutors review the evidence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Casey Anthony, acquitted of murder in 2011, called for an end to the death penalty.
Anthony is arguing from a seat few death-penalty critics have sat in: a defendant the state asked a jury to sentence to death, who was acquitted of murder. Her post makes the policy case on cost, deterrence and the burden of proof, but its last line is personal. The 2011 verdict is the legal answer to the murder charge, and it stands. Her post is opinion, not a filing in any case.

A federal judge threw out most of Alec Baldwin's 'Rust' lawsuit against two New Mexico prosecutors, and one of them quit the Legislature a day later.
Baldwin lost most of this round, but not all of it. Prosecutorial immunity is a high wall, and the judge said so even while writing that she was concerned by the misconduct allegations. The piece that survives is the one Baldwin's side has hammered since the criminal case collapsed: what happened to the gun. And the separation-of-powers finding already cost Reeb her legislative seat.

Sean Combs was moved from FCI Fort Dix to a low-security federal prison in Allenwood, Pennsylvania.
A prison transfer is a custody decision by the Bureau of Prisons. It is not a new charge, and it does not change his 50-month sentence. Allenwood Low carries the same low-security level as Fort Dix, so the move is lateral, not a step up in security. The BOP has not said why it happened.
