Salina police arrested Daireese Gelinas on an attempted second-degree murder charge after a man was stabbed.

The Salina Post published a Salina Police statement charging Daireese M Gelinas, 28, with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery after a 36 year old male was stabbed on Oct. 30, 2026. The site's booking list prints Murder in the 2nd degree without the word Attempted, and the man has not been named.

Attempted second-degree murder is the count in the police statement KWCH also reports as a charge. The booking list drops the word attempted, and KSAL's update says he could face that count. The man was reported in stable condition, no account used here sets a court date, and a booking list is not a conviction.

The Salina Post, posted Oct. 31, 2026, at 8:01 p.m., with no time zone printed, published a Salina Police statement. A line above the statement reads "Daireese M Gelinas - suspect arrested 10-30-26." The statement says that on October 30th, 2026, officers responded to Salina Regional Health Center regarding an individual brought into the ER lobby who had been stabbed. It says a 36 year old male of Salina had been stabbed multiple times at their residence in eastern Salina. It says a suspect was developed and located in a south Salina home and arrested without incident. It says the person arrested was Daireese M Gelinas, 28 years old, of Salina, charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery. KWCH, in a story by Maya Daniels published Oct. 31, 2026, at 3:31 p.m. CDT, reported that Salina police said officers responded to that hospital on Friday after a 36-year-old man was brought to the ER with multiple stab wounds, that he had been stabbed at his home in east Salina, and that 28-year-old Daireese Gelinas was found in a south Salina home and arrested without incident. KWCH reported he is charged with attempted second degree murder, aggravated assault and aggravated battery. KSAL, in a story by Todd Pittenger dated October 31, 2026, reported in its update that he could face charges which include Attempted Murder in the 2 nd Degree, Aggravated Assault, and Aggravated Battery. Charged with, and could face, are not the same status. Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, attempted second degree murder, and Attempted Murder in the 2 nd Degree are not the same title. Daireese M Gelinas and Daireese Gelinas are not the same printed name. The police statement prints October 30th. KWCH prints Friday and does not print Oct. 30. KSAL's update says the officers responded early Friday morning.

The hospital and the second person are not one description. The police statement says the victim was transported to a Wichita hospital and was in stable condition at this time. It says a second male who attempted to separate the victim and the suspect was also cut and was not hospitalized. It says the case is still under investigation and that current charges could potential change. Could potential change is the grammar printed in the statement. KWCH reported the victim is in stable condition, that another man who had attempted to separate the victim and the suspect was also injured and was not hospitalized, and that the case is still under investigation. KWCH did not print Wichita, did not print cut, and did not print that the charges could change. KSAL's update reported that the 36-year-old year male had been stabbed multiple times at his residence in east Salina, that he was transported to a Wichita hospital where he was in stable condition Saturday morning, and that a second male was cut and was not hospitalized. KSAL printed the same could potential change line. Stable at this time, stable condition with no hospital named, and stable Saturday morning are not the same report. Cut and injured are not the same word. Eastern Salina, east Salina, and a residence in east Salina are not the same place line. A 36 year old male, a 36-year-old man, and a 36-year-old year male are not the same phrase. The ER lobby is in the police statement and in KSAL. KWCH did not print lobby. In a south Salina home, which KWCH and KSAL print, and in south Salina home, which the statement prints without a, are not the same phrase.

The booking list is a different set of words. A Salina Post booking post from Oct. 30, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. heads the entry "Gelinas, Daireese Montrell" and prints the name Daireese Montrell Gelinas. It says the list is recent booking activity as provided by law enforcement. The requested charges it prints are "Agg assault; w/ deadly weapon," "Agg battery; Knowingly use deadly weapon," "Murder in the 2nd degree; Intentional," and "Outside warrant/NCIC hit." It does not print the word attempted on that murder line. KSAL's original section said Saline County Jail records showed Daireese Montrell Gelinas booked early Friday, and it printed "Agg assault; w/ deadly weapon," "Agg battery; Knowingly use deadly weapon," "Attempted Murder in the 2nd degree; Intentional," and "Outside warrant/NCIC hit." Attempted Murder in the 2nd degree, and Murder in the 2nd degree, are not the same charge. KSAL printed Attempted on that jail list. The booking post did not. The police statement's three charges do not print a deadly weapon, do not print Intentional, and do not print an outside warrant. No account used here says which agency issued the warrant or what it is for. KSAL's original section also said a source told KSAL an incident involved Gelinas and an acquaintance. The police statement, KWCH, and the booking post did not print an acquaintance. Daireese Montrell Gelinas, Daireese M Gelinas, and Daireese Gelinas are three printed names.

No account used here names the man who was stabbed. No account used here names the second man. No account used here reports that anyone died. No account used here reports a bond, a first appearance, or a trial date. The police statement says the charges could change. KWCH's charge line, KSAL's could-face line, and the booking post's murder line are what those pages print. They are not findings that Gelinas stabbed him. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

WJLA says Judge Neal Kravitz found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. NBC4 says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Voluntary manslaughter while armed, and voluntary manslaughter, and manslaughter, are not the same count. A bench outside Father O'Connell Hall, and a park on the campus, and a small plaza by that hall, and the 600 block of Alumni Lane, are not the same place. Brookland-CUA Metro, and Brookland Metro, and Brookland-Catholic University Metro, are not the same station line. Snapchat messages, and a message, and an urgent message, are not the same account. Cash App, and cash app, and $300 with no app named, are not the same line. Judge Kravitz accepted the plea and found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. A 12-to-15-year range is not the sentence. Sentencing has not happened.
