A jury conviction is the judgment of guilt on those counts. A Dec. 9 sentencing date is a calendar setting, not a prison term. On Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, a Lebanon County jury found Darrell Long, 63, guilty of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, and harassment for the March 25, 2025 attack on his former wife, Dawn Long, in a verdict the district attorney announced the next day.
WGAL named the victim as Dawn Long and reported the attack at a home on North 7th Street in North Lebanon Township. She testified that she woke to find him standing over her with a loaded gun, and that he beat her with the weapon before shooting her five times in the arms and legs. WGAL also reported that he admitted the shooting and the pistol-whipping. WHP reported that medics found five gunshot wounds. TMZ, citing prosecutors, reported a .22-caliber rifle, a shot through her knee, another in her thigh, and a shot that struck her hand instead of her face and destroyed her left index finger. She survived and called 911. Those are the reported facts behind the verdict. They are not a sentence.
WHP reported the Sept. 22 convictions as attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, and harassment. TMZ reported the same verdict as attempted first-degree murder, burglary, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and harassment. Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf told PEOPLE that Long wanted his ex-wife to know who was attacking her, believed "every woman needs to be taught a lesson," felt he is a hero for his actions, remains proud, and continues to blame Dawn. Those are the prosecutor's characterizations as PEOPLE reported them. They are not findings beyond the verdict. PEOPLE, via TMZ, reported that the attack followed Dawn filing for child support. Daily Voice reported that the two-day trial was before Lebanon County Judge Charles T. Jones Jr., that Long is held at the Lebanon County Correctional Facility on $500,000 cash bail, and that sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 9. WGAL reported sentencing in December. No prison term has been imposed. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
