The Toronto Star reported Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, that David Morton, 75, and daughters Maggie and Cristina were shot at their Hyde Park Circle home, and that Doriana Zohil, 64, was attacked with a hammer. CBC reported officers were called about 3:43 a.m. Thursday. CP24 reported a Friday police account of gunshot wounds to a 75-year-old man and women ages 26 and 28. No arrest has been announced.

Thursday's police account did not name the family. Friday's Star account did. CBC's 3:43 a.m. and CP24's around 3:45 a.m. are not the same clock. CBC's Thursday hammer account and CP24's Friday hammer account do not name the same people. The Daily Mail video put the break-in on Sunday.

CBC reported Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, in a story by Arrthy Thayaparan posted at 8:32 a.m. EDT and last updated that same day, that officers responded to a violent home invasion and shooting at a house on Hyde Park Circle, near Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue E., around 3:43 a.m. CBC reported Insp. Kristy Smith said three masked suspects, armed with handguns and a hammer, forced their way in through a rear entrance, confronted four adults, a father, a mother, and their two adult daughters, and fired "multiple times" during a struggle. CBC reported Smith said the suspects demanded valuables and that it was not clear whether anything was taken. CBC reported the father and two daughters were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds, and that Const. Shannon Eames said in an emailed statement that the mother was struck with a hammer. CBC reported Smith said two of the four were in hospital with life-altering injuries and the other two had non-life-threatening injuries. The same CBC story's opening summary said two were in life-threatening condition. Life-threatening and life-altering are not the same word. CBC reported Eames said three suspects were seen fleeing in an SUV and that a suspect description was not available then. CBC did not name the family. CBC reported Smith said, "People should be able to feel safe in their homes," and that it was not clear whether the home was targeted.

The Toronto Star reported Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, in a story by Wendy Gillis and Beatriz Baleeiro, that police had released suspect information after three family members were shot and a fourth was attacked with a hammer early Thursday. The Star reported the home on Hyde Park Circle is owned by David Morton, 75, and Doriana Zohil, 64, and that the Star had confirmed the couple and their daughters Maggie and Cristina were the people hurt. The Star reported three masked intruders entered the back door, shot Morton and his daughters, and that Zohil-Morton was attacked with a hammer. Zohil and Zohil-Morton are both the Star's spellings in that story. The Star reported that, according to the company website, Morton is chief executive officer of family-run THE MAC Group, which it described as providing furnished properties for business travellers, luxury villa rentals, real estate listings, and immigration services. The Star's Friday story did not print 3:43 a.m. The headline said police released suspect descriptions. The Star text reviewed here named Maggie and Cristina and did not print ages of 26 and 28.

CP24 reported Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, in a story by Chris Fox published at 2:05 p.m. EDT and updated at 2:58 p.m. EDT, that David Morton, CEO of The Mac Group, and his wife Doriana Zohil-Morton were among the victims, along with their daughters. The Mac Group and THE MAC Group are not the same capitalization. CP24 reported police had previously said three masked suspects armed with handguns and a hammer broke in near Bayview and Lawrence avenues at around 3:45 a.m. Around 3:45 a.m. is not 3:43 a.m. CP24 reported a news release later said the masked suspects went to the second floor, demanded valuables, and got into an altercation, that multiple firearms were discharged, and that a 75-year-old man, a 26-year-old woman, and a 28-year-old woman sustained gunshot wounds. CP24 reported the male was also struck with a hammer, as was a 64-year-old woman. CBC's Eames account was the mother and the hammer. It did not say the father was struck with one. The Star's hammer sentence named Zohil-Morton and did not say Morton was struck with a hammer. CP24 did not attach the ages 26 and 28 to the names Maggie and Cristina. CP24 reported two victims remained in hospital with life-altering injuries as of Thursday afternoon. A video caption on the same CP24 page said two people had life-threatening injuries. CP24 reported the three suspects fled in a dark-coloured SUV, remain at large, and were described Friday as males approximately 20 years old, last seen in dark-coloured clothing and face masks, and that police said they should be considered armed and dangerous. CP24 reported Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw called the impact on the family devastating. CP24 reported Mayor Olivia Chow said, "This attack has understandably shaken the neighbourhood and many residents across Toronto. This violence is not acceptable in our city." The Star printed that same sentence and a "she said," and did not print Chow's name on the sentence in the text reviewed here.

The Daily Mail's video page reported three masked men broke into Mac Group CEO David Morton's house around 3.45 a.m. on Sunday, inside a gated Hyde Park Circle community, and that two of the men were armed with handguns while the third was armed with a hammer, which the page said police said. Sunday is not Thursday, Oct. 29. Around 3.45 a.m. is not CBC's 3:43 a.m. Two handguns and a separate hammer is not CBC's account of three suspects armed with handguns and a hammer. Mac Group is not The Mac Group or THE MAC Group. The Daily Mail video page did not print a byline or a clock time for the video. CBC, the Star, CP24, and the Daily Mail video did not report an arrest or a named accused. Police have not announced a charge in these accounts. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Multnomah County district attorney declined to prosecute Officer Daniel Hall in the fatal shooting of Eric Jonathan Hurtado.

Thursday's memo is the district attorney's decision not to present the shooting to a grand jury. It is not the Police Review Board's review, and Hall remains on administrative leave. The Oregonian's account of the memo moves from the St. Honore Bakery to the Oregon Wines store, the Dossier Hotel, and then the Vintage Hotel. KATU named the Kimpton Hotel Vintage at 422 S.W. Broadway. Those are not one address.

A Hopkins County grand jury returned a no true bill for Dr. Stacey Fazenbaker.

A no true bill is the grand jury's decision not to indict. It is not a trial verdict. Insufficient evidence, in the Messenger's account of the release, and insufficient probable cause, in WFIE's story, are not the same words. About eight hours, several hours, and around nine hours are not the same length of time. The child is not named here.

A Harris County grand jury indicted ICE officer Mario Alberto Morales after an unmarked vehicle struck Miguel Parra-Hernandez.

Friday's indictment is a charge. It is not a conviction. One count and two counts are not the same allegation. A Jeep Cherokee, an unmarked black vehicle, and an unmarked patrol vehicle are three descriptions of what he was driving. A hospital bed, a rehabilitation facility under ICE watch, and custody are not the same account of where Miguel Parra-Hernandez is.
