Federal prosecutors charged David Sartin Jr. with two Tampa Bay bank robberies they say he committed in a prosthetic old-man mask.
A criminal complaint filed Oct. 14, 2026, charges David Sartin Jr., 40, of St. Petersburg, with two counts of federal bank robbery for holdups in Largo and St. Petersburg, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida announced Oct. 16. Prosecutors say he was on supervised release for five 2016 Texas bank robberies committed in a similar disguise.

The new case is a criminal complaint charging two counts of bank robbery, each carrying up to 20 years, filed while Sartin was already on supervised release for five Texas bank robberies. The mask, the bicycle, and the journal are what agents say the searches turned up. No next court date has been reported, and FOX 13 Tampa Bay reported the amount taken has not been released.
A criminal complaint filed Oct. 14, 2026, charges David Sartin Jr., 40, of St. Petersburg, with two counts of federal bank robbery, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida announced on Oct. 16. U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe's office made that announcement. Each count carries up to 20 years in prison. ABC News, The Washington Post, FOX 13 Tampa Bay, WFLA, and WFTV reported the filing as the case drew national coverage on Oct. 20. A complaint is the document that starts the prosecution. The two counts are what it alleges.
The robberies named in the complaint are a bank in Largo on Aug. 24, 2026, and a bank in St. Petersburg on Sept. 15, 2026. Prosecutors say that each time Sartin wore a prosthetic old-man mask, demanded money at the teller counter, and told the tellers not to include dye packs. Before the first robbery, they say, he parked a staged vehicle, switched to a bicycle to reach the bank, and rode the bicycle back. The day after the second robbery, investigators say, he spray-painted the car's white roof black. FOX 13 Tampa Bay reported that the amount of money taken has not been released.
The searches are what the complaint uses to connect those descriptions to him. At his home, agents found a bicycle, a blue suit, a black suit, and a black bag, prosecutors say. In a storage unit they found an old-man mask with grey facial hair, dark-framed glasses, paint-stained work gloves, a fake handgun, a pinstriped sports coat, and a flat cap. At another home where he sometimes stayed, they found a journal dated Jan. 1, 2021, titled "God's Best friend is a Bank Robber! Uncle Henry Cops and Robbers the world through the eyes of a Bank Robber," and signed "written by: David Sartin." Those items are what the government says it recovered. Recovered property is evidence in a complaint. It is not a verdict.
The new counts sit on convictions that are already on the books. In 2018 he was convicted in federal court of five bank robberies committed in Texas in 2016, using a similar mask and the same vehicle, and he was sentenced to 10 years and 1 month. He was on supervised release for that sentence when the Tampa Bay robberies are alleged to have happened. He also has a 2008 federal conviction for attempted bank robbery that involved Halloween masks. The 2018 case and the 2008 case ended in convictions. The Largo count and the St. Petersburg count are the new charges.
WFLA reported that jail records show Sartin was arrested on Sept. 21 and is being held in the Pinellas County Jail. Assistant U.S. Attorney Belkis H. Callaos is the prosecutor. The FBI, the Largo Police Department, and the St. Petersburg Police Department investigated. ABC News reported that it contacted the attorney listed for him on the docket and that no comment came back. No next court date has been reported. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

KPTV, citing Warrenton police, called it an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. An Oahu grand jury indicted Orion Satori on a second-degree murder charge in the Young Street stabbing of Kiril Stoimenov.
An indictment means a grand jury found enough to send the case forward. It is not a finding of guilt. Police have said Satori did the stabbing, according to Hawaii News Now. The next step is arraignment, where he will be asked to enter a plea. Second-degree murder in Hawaii carries a maximum of life with the possibility of parole, the station reported.
