The public record so far is a party, an altercation, a car driven away from the scene, and two people shot. Police say Thomas died and that Kind was treated for a gunshot wound of his own before he was arrested. They have not said who fired, what was taken to support the robbery count, or whether anyone else was involved. Bond and a court date were not in the Sunday accounts. Those blanks are what the charging paperwork, once it is public, either fills in or leaves for a lawyer.

Davonte Martese Kind, 25, of Thomasville, North Carolina, is charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the shooting death of Robert Jermaine Thomas, 44, of Salisbury, the Lexington Police Department said, as reported by ABC45, WFMY, WXII, and FOX8. FOX8 attributed the identification to City of Lexington communications manager John Bullard. ABC45 reported Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, that bond and court information were not yet available.

Officers were sent at 1:23 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, to 1000 South Talbert Boulevard after a call reporting a shooting, those outlets reported. They found Thomas with gunshot wounds, gave emergency aid, and had him taken to Lexington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators said a large party was underway and that an altercation led to the shooting. WFMY described it as a fight. FOX8 described it as an argument. WXII called it an altercation. None of those accounts said who fired or what the dispute was about.

Detectives said Kind left in Thomas's vehicle, which was later recovered in Thomasville, ABC45 and WFMY reported. They said Kind was taken by private vehicle to Duke University Hospital in Durham for a gunshot wound he sustained in the incident, and that hospital staff medically cleared him before he was taken into custody there at 12:45 p.m. Saturday. Police said detectives processed scenes in Lexington and Thomasville and are still working to determine whether anyone else was involved. The department thanked the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Thomasville police, the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, the Davidson County District Attorney's Office, Duke University Hospital, and Durham police. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

West Melbourne police rearrested Kavan Patel and charged him with second-degree murder after a 14-year-old boy died.

Sunday's count is the death. The conduct police described Tuesday is the same conduct: they say he hit a 14-year-old with a car after a reported break-in at his store, left, and did not tell the officers who met him at the shop. WESH reported Tuesday night that he was held without bond ahead of a Wednesday hearing, and on Sunday that a judge had set a $40,000 bond on those first charges. After the boy died, the murder rearrest is without bond. A bond on the battery case is not a finding on the murder count.

Gainesville police charged Kamari Tilmuth with felony murder in the Walmart parking-lot shooting that killed James McDaniel.

Four aggravated-assault counts, on a shooting police describe as groups firing across a parking lot, are a claim that more people were in the line of fire than the one man who died. Felony murder is how Georgia charges a death during a felony. It does not, by itself, say the accused meant to kill James McDaniel. Police say he was on the far side of the lot and was not in the fight. They have not said what the argument was about, whether the search warrant produced a gun, or where that warrant was served.

Savannah police arrested Charles Miller and charged him with murder after asking the public to help find him.

Saturday was a wanted notice. Sunday morning was a murder charge. That is the whole public arc so far. Police have not named the woman, have not said how she died, and have not said what, beyond the label domestic homicide, ties Miller to the house. The charging paperwork is where those blanks get filled in, or become the first thing a defense lawyer has to work with.
