Open murder and felony firearm are the charges MLive says were before the judge on Thursday. They are not a conviction. Lamar L. Blackwell, in the MLive caption, and Alton L. Blackwell, in the MLive body, are not the same name. ABC12's identification story still said police had not announced any charges. A walk-in on Monday, and an arraignment on Thursday, are not the same step.

MLive, by Cole Waterman, published Nov. 5, 2026, at 10:23 a.m., reported Dawnette M. Blackwell, also known by the surname Galindez-Posthumus, appeared Thursday, Nov. 5, before Saginaw County District Judge Elian E.H. Fichtner for arraignment on charges of open murder and felony firearm. The page does not print a zone on that clock. It reported open murder contains first- and second-degree murder, both life offenses, though a first-degree conviction mandates a life-without-parole prison term, and that a felony firearm conviction mandates a minimum two-year sentence consecutive to any related term. That is the page's description of the exposure. It is not a sentence the story says the judge imposed. It reported the charges stem from the homicide of Alton L. Blackwell, 37. The photo caption on the same page says the charges stem from the shooting death of her 37-year-old husband, Lamar L. Blackwell. Lamar L. Blackwell, in the caption, and Alton L. Blackwell, in the body, are not the same name. It reported Dawnette Blackwell turns 54 on Nov. 18. The page does not print her age as of Thursday. It reported the Blackwells married in August 2024 and resided at 206 S. 25th St. in Buena Vista Township, that they separated about a year ago, and that she had been living with her adult daughter in Kentwood, near Grand Rapids, according to police and prosecutors. The daughter is not named. ABC12, by Ricardo Quintanilla, dated Nov. 2, 2026, with an update line that did not print an absolute clock, reported investigators say 37-year-old Alton Blackwell was found dead inside a home on South 25th Street near Janes Road with at least one gunshot wound. Alton Blackwell, on ABC12, and Alton L. Blackwell, on MLive, are not the same fullness. South 25th Street near Janes Road, and 206 S. 25th St., are not the same address line. At least one gunshot wound, and a gunshot wound to the head, are not the same wound line. ABC12 reported his wife went to the Buena Vista Township Police Department around 12:30 p.m. and told investigators she had shot her husband, that officers found him dead inside, that she has been taken into custody, and that police have not released a possible motive or announced any charges. Have not announced any charges, on that Nov. 2 page as it loaded, and an arraignment on open murder, on MLive's Nov. 5 page, are not the same status. ABC12 does not print Dawnette, Galindez-Posthumus, or a judge.

The Monday account is not one verb. MLive reported that on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 31, Alton Blackwell picked her up from Kentwood and they drove back to the Saginaw County home, that the next day she drove her husband's vehicle back to her daughter's home, and that she told her daughter and her ex-husband, the daughter's father, that she had shot and killed Alton Blackwell. It reported they encouraged her to surrender. It reported that on Monday she returned to Saginaw County, walked into the Buena Vista Township Police Department, and said she had killed her husband, and that she asked for an attorney upon being read her Miranda rights, Detective Russ Pahssen has said. Killed, in that Monday sentence, and shot and killed, in the sentence about what she told her daughter, are not the same verb on that page. ABC12's identification story says she told investigators she had shot her husband. Shot, and killed, are not the same verb. An earlier ABC12 story, by Terry Camp and Kevin Craft, also dated Nov. 2, 2026, with an update line that did not print an absolute clock, reported a woman arrived at the police station around 12:30 p.m. and told officers she shot her husband inside the house on South 25th Street near Janes Road, that officers found the deceased man inside, and that police are not confirming whether the woman was responsible for the shooting. Not confirming whether she was responsible, in that story, and told investigators she had shot her husband, in the identification story, are not the same police line. The Camp and Craft story reported the weapon remains inside the home. MLive and the identification story do not print that the weapon remains inside. WNEM, by WNEM Digital, published Nov. 2, 2026, at 2:34 p.m. EST, reported officers received information Monday about a death at a home at 206 S. 25th St. at 12:30 p.m., that they found the body of a 37-year-old man, and that one person is in custody. 206 S. 25th St. is WNEM and MLive. WNEM does not print Janes Road, a wife, a name, a charge, or the crime lab. It reported the death is being investigated as a possible homicide and that he was found with a gunshot wound to the head. A gunshot wound to the head is WNEM and MLive. ABC12 prints at least one gunshot wound and does not print the head. MLive does not print 12:30 p.m. ABC12 and WNEM do. MLive reported police found Alton Blackwell deceased inside from a gunshot wound to the head and recovered a handgun, which Pahssen believes belonged to Alton Blackwell though it was not registered and his criminal record prohibited him from legally owning a firearm. Believes belonged to him is the detective's account, as MLive printed it. It is not a court finding about the gun. MLive reported Pahssen is investigating how they met in Kentwood and is attempting to get their phone data. ABC12 reported the Michigan State Police Crime Lab is assisting. MLive and WNEM do not print the crime lab.

The arraignment is Thursday's step. MLive reported attorney Robyn Monroe said Dawnette Blackwell has mental health issues including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, and that Monroe asked the judge to set a cash bond and to allow ongoing contact with her daughter. It quoted Monroe, "She does need the support of family," and, "I don't believe she is a risk to the community and she is not a flight risk." It reported Fichtner denied bond, ordered no contact with her daughter, and said she will make a referral to the jail so Dawnette Blackwell receives her prescription medication. It reported a preliminary examination is set for 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 23. ABC12 and WNEM do not print Monroe, a bond ruling, a no-contact order, or Nov. 23. MLive reported prosecutors in January and June 2025 charged Alton Blackwell with third-offense domestic violence with his wife as the listed victim, that both cases were dismissed because she did not participate, and that prosecutors wrote in one of the case files, "It is believed that he is going to end up killing this Victim." The capital V is on that page. It reported the files referenced four prior domestic violence convictions in Kent County dating to 2013. Those are prior cases MLive says were dismissed or were his record. They are not a finding about the Oct. 31 night. It reported court records show she filed for divorce in Kent County in September of this year, and that a personal protection order she sought there in October was denied, Pahssen has said. It reported his homicide is Buena Vista Township's first of 2026 and the 15th in Saginaw County, with 12 in Saginaw and one each in Saginaw Township, Bridgeport, and now Buena Vista, and that 13 of the 15 resulted from gun violence. ABC12 and WNEM do not print that count. A charge of open murder is the accusation MLive says was arraigned. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

WJLA says Judge Neal Kravitz found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. NBC4 says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
