Three Deep Ellum shootings early Sunday left four people dead and about 15 injured, and Dallas police have not publicly identified anyone in custody.

Chief Daniel Comeaux said four people were dead and approximately 15 were injured after shootings reported in the 2600 block of Elm Street, the 2600 block of Main Street, and the 200 block of South Crowdus Street. Police said some people had been arrested. No page used here names them or states a charge.

Custody without a name and without a charge is not a case a reader can look up. Comeaux said investigators do not yet have information that the three scenes are related, and he also said they are still trying to find out. The outlets do not put the four deaths on the same blocks, and they do not use the same words for whether the shootings are connected. Video and those interviews are what the department says comes next.

WFAA, updated at 4:40 p.m. CST on Nov. 1, 2026, reported that Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said at an 8:30 a.m. news conference that at least four people were dead and 15 were injured. It reported a 9:30 a.m. police update that put the first shooting at 12:20 a.m. in the 2600 block of Elm Street, the second at 1:05 a.m. in the 2600 block of Main Street, and the third at 1:35 a.m. in the 200 block of South Crowdus Street. FOX 4, by Adam Fullerton and Amber Kite, updated at 9:02 a.m. CST, printed those same three times and blocks and said the scenes were within about 75 minutes. NBC 5, by Frank Heinz, reported the first call at around 12:19 a.m. in the 2600 block of Elm Street, a second just after 1 a.m. in the 2600 block of Main Street, and a third at about 1:35 a.m. along the 200 block of Crowdus Street. Around 12:19 and about 12:20 are not the same minute. Just after 1 a.m. and about 1:05 a.m. are not the same time. Crowdus Street and South Crowdus Street are not the same printed name. NBC 5 also reported Comeaux confirmed the shootings unfolded between midnight and 1:30 a.m. A window that ends at 1:30 does not include 1:35. NBC 5 reported a further shooting call at about 3:30 a.m. along South Ervay Street, which it said is outside Deep Ellum. That call is not one of the three blocks.

CBS News Texas, by Matthew Ablon and Amelia Mugavero, updated at 9:19 p.m. CST on Nov. 1, reported police said the first shooting unfolded around midnight at a convenience store in the 2600 block of Elm Street, that five people were shot in the parking lot in an apparent altercation, that minutes later gunfire along Commerce Street near South Crowdus Street left three people dead, and that one person died in the third shooting, around 1:35 a.m. in the 200 block of South Crowdus Street. Around midnight and 12:20 a.m. are not the same time. Commerce Street near South Crowdus, and the 2600 block of Main Street, are not the same second scene. CBS's opening said the three shootings unfolded within minutes of each other. FOX 4 said about 75 minutes. The Associated Press, in John Raby's account, said about an hour and 15 minutes. Within minutes, and an hour and 15 minutes, are not the same span. CBS also reported police shut the neighborhood down around 1 a.m. A shutdown around 1 a.m. comes before the 1:35 a.m. shooting the same story reports. FOX 4 quoted Comeaux: "Right now, in total, we have four people that are deceased from three separate scenes, and we have approximately 15 others that have been injured." He said that number could change because some people took themselves to hospitals. Approximately 15, and a count that could change, are not a closed total. WFAA reported department sources said that at one location a man said, "Hey, I'm gonna start shooting," and then opened fire, that multiple people were shot, that three people were pronounced dead at that location, and that another person was confirmed dead at a second location. That is a source account. It is not in the chief's quoted sentences, and it does not name the block. Three dead at one scene and one at a second is four. CBS's three dead near Commerce and South Crowdus, plus one dead on South Crowdus, is also four, and that version does not say anyone died in the Elm Street parking lot. NBC 5 reported that The Dallas Morning News reported four people killed across two locations and at least six others wounded at a third. Three at one unnamed location, three on Commerce, and four across two locations are not the same map. At least six wounded at one scene, and approximately 15 injured across three, are not the same injury count. No page used here names anyone who died or anyone who was hurt.

WFAA's opening said at least one suspect is in custody and police are searching for another. NBC 5 reported Comeaux said officers had arrested at least one person in connection with one of the incidents, and it quoted him: "We are interviewing some individuals right now that we have arrested, still trying to figure out exactly how it ties into ... all the shootings out here." The same NBC 5 story said police have not publicly identified anyone in custody or announced formal arrests. FOX 4 reported police said they have made arrests and are interviewing several people. CBS reported one suspect was taken into custody, that it was not immediately clear which shooting that person was tied to, and that Comeaux said other individuals have been arrested while officers looked for more. The Associated Press reported he said some arrests were made and did not specify how many or what charges were involved. At least one, some individuals, an unnamed number of arrests, and no formal arrest announced are not the same custody report. No name is printed. No charge is printed. On the question of a connection, NBC 5 quoted him: "At this time, we have no information that they are related, but we're still doing an investigation to try to figure that out at this time." WFAA reported sources said the shootings do not appear to be related. CBS reported the chief said he does not believe the three shootings are connected. FOX 4 reported police said they have no evidence the three are related. No information, do not appear, does not believe, and no evidence are not the same finding. The Associated Press reported it was not immediately known why they started.

NBC 5 reported Comeaux said one officer revived an injured person, and that an officer told him they were less than two blocks away when they heard gunfire. FOX 4 reported he said officers less than two blocks away revived at least one person. CBS reported he said officers were two blocks away from the initial shooting. Less than two blocks and two blocks are not the same distance. One person and at least one are not the same number. The Associated Press reported no officers were injured and that the department had added officers before the shootings. NBC 5 reported he said the district was staffed because it was Saturday night and Halloween. NBC 5 also reported these shootings are at least the fourth time this year that gunfire in Deep Ellum injured more than one person: two people shot early Friday, Aug. 14, along Canton Street; a man arrested after three people were shot along Elm Street early on Aug. 23; and gunfire along Commerce Street during Cinco de Mayo celebrations that injured five. CBS reported the night came roughly six months after another Deep Ellum shooting in which a security officer died and five other people were injured. A spring shooting that injured five, and a shooting in which a security officer died and five others were injured, are not the same sentence. Those are earlier cases. They are not these three scenes. The Associated Press lede said Halloween-weekend mass shootings in nightlife districts left at least six people dead and dozens injured, and that Dallas was the deadliest, with four dead and 15 injured. The same story reported one person killed and eight wounded in Birmingham, a 19-year-old woman killed in Bloomington, Illinois, six people shot in Newark, Delaware, and six people taken to hospitals in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Four, plus one, plus one, is six. The same story then reported that two people were killed Friday in separate shootings at Spirit Halloween stores in California and Michigan. Those Friday deaths are not inside that six. They are a different event. Comeaux asked people who were in Deep Ellum to send video and photographs. WFAA, FOX 4, and CBS gave the same contact: Sgt. Boz Rojas, No. 10379, at 214-671-3598 or boz.rojas@dallaspolice.gov. WFAA printed the number as (214)-671-3598. Mayor Eric L. Johnson's statement, as WFAA and FOX 4 printed it, said the city was still working to understand what motivated the incidents. Motivation is still an open question. It is not a named suspect, and it is not a charge.

WJLA says Judge Neal Kravitz found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. NBC4 says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Voluntary manslaughter while armed, and voluntary manslaughter, and manslaughter, are not the same count. A bench outside Father O'Connell Hall, and a park on the campus, and a small plaza by that hall, and the 600 block of Alumni Lane, are not the same place. Brookland-CUA Metro, and Brookland Metro, and Brookland-Catholic University Metro, are not the same station line. Snapchat messages, and a message, and an urgent message, are not the same account. Cash App, and cash app, and $300 with no app named, are not the same line. Judge Kravitz accepted the plea and found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. A 12-to-15-year range is not the sentence. Sentencing has not happened.
