The two counts are charges from an Oct. 18 allegation. BoxingScene has the charge titles, the bail, and the arraignment time. The New York Post has the affidavit's account of a pistol and a woman who got away to a 7-Eleven. An affidavit is not a conviction. She is not named here.

BoxingScene reported that Edgar Berlanga, 29, of Lithia, Florida, was arrested Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, by the Lakeland Police Department and charged with second-degree felony aggravated battery and first-degree misdemeanor battery over an incident alleged to have happened on Oct. 18. It reported that at a Tuesday appearance bail was set at $16,000 and that arraignment is set for 8:45 a.m. ET on Nov. 17, when he is to enter a plea. The New York Post reported court records show a warrant was issued on Oct. 23, that jail records show he turned himself in on Monday, and that he was released from custody on Tuesday. A surrender that a jail log calls a turn-in, and an arrest that BoxingScene attributes to Lakeland police, can be the same Monday. A Tuesday release is what the Post reported after the bail figure BoxingScene reported. BoxingScene reported the felony carries up to 15 years and the misdemeanor up to a year. Those are maximums if a court convicts him. They are not a sentence.

The New York Post, citing a probable-cause affidavit it said the California Post obtained on Wednesday, reported the allegation is that on Oct. 18 Berlanga and a woman were driving on an interstate in Polk County, that they argued, and that he "began hitting her with an open hand." The Post quoted the affidavit: "He then retrieved a pistol from the cupholder and stuck her in the forehead with the magazine well of it." It reported the affidavit said she tried to get out of the vehicle, that he grabbed her by the left arm and tried to pull her back in, and that she broke free and ran toward a 7-Eleven, where witnesses called police. It reported the affidavit said officers saw swelling and bruising on her forehead, a tear on her shirt sleeve, and a bruise on her left inner arm. The Post described her as the mother of his child and did not print her name. This account does not name her. The Post reported that a message seeking comment from his attorney on Wednesday was not immediately returned. The affidavit is the account that supported the charges. It is not a finding.

BoxingScene reported Berlanga is a 24-2 super middleweight with 19 knockouts, and that he last fought on July 26 in New York, stopping Steven Butler in the seventh round. The Post reported he lost a unanimous decision to Canelo Alvarez on Sept. 14, 2024, in Las Vegas, and that he has gone 2-1 since that fight. A career record and a record since one fight are not the same tally. The battery counts remain charges. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

An FBI agent fatally shot Chadwick Clark during a Dixmoor warrant operation, and the FBI says the shooting is under review.

The FBI account is an agent-involved shooting, one person dead, no agent hurt, and an internal review. The family's account that Clark was unarmed, and a police source's count of people in custody, are not in the FBI statement. A review is not a charge.

Chief Judge Leigh Martin May sentenced Edwin Brant Frost IV to 15 years in the First Liberty fraud.

Monday's term is the sentence on a guilty plea to one count of wire fraud. It is not a jury verdict. The U.S. Attorney's Office, FOX 5 Atlanta, and The Citizen print the same restitution figure. The Newnan Times-Herald prints a figure that is fifty dollars lower.

The Parole Board directed the release of Mohammed Mumtaz, who was convicted of murdering Naila Mumtaz.

A parole direction is not a new trial and not an acquittal. The 2012 verdicts are the judgment. He remains on licence for life, and the Prison Service said he can be recalled. The outlets do not agree on how his brother-in-law's name is spelled, or on whether Naila Mumtaz died at the house or at the hospital.
