McCovery was arrested in Norfolk on a Texas warrant and firearm allegations.

An arrest and a warrant are process. They are not a conviction. Norfolk police said he had an active Texas felony warrant with full extradition, fled on foot after he was told he was under arrest, and was apprehended shortly afterward. He was taken to the Madison County Jail.

Shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, Norfolk police were sent to the 900 block of Georgia Avenue on a report of two people sleeping in a garage. Those people left before officers arrived and were found nearby soon after. The investigation described an argument with residents and said McCovery was looking for a firearm he believed had been taken while he was sleeping. Around 10:11 a.m., residents called police after finding a firearm in the garage. Video showed McCovery sleeping where the firearm was recovered. A video and a resident report are investigation facts. They are not a verdict.

Police linked that firearm to an earlier incident the same morning at a Casey's gas station, where a vehicle windshield was damaged by a gunshot. A spent 9mm casing was recovered from the vehicle, and a 9mm cartridge casing and jacket were found near the Casey's dumpsters. The firearm was reported stolen out of Omaha. Police said McCovery has a prior Texas felony conviction for assault on a peace officer or judge. A prior conviction is a reported record. It does not prove Sunday's allegations.

He was arrested on the Texas warrant and on allegations of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a stolen firearm, and discharging a firearm at a vehicle. He was also cited for resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, two counts of criminal mischief, second-degree trespassing, and minor in possession of alcohol. Those captions are accusations. McCovery is presumed innocent.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
