Talavera was sentenced to 228 months on a fentanyl-conspiracy plea. A cartel label is not a count.

Euriel Talavera, 32, of Wichita, was sentenced to 228 months, 19 years, after a plea to one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, in reporting dated Tuesday, Sept. 22. Co-defendant terms are their judgments.

A 228-month sentence after a guilty plea is the judgment on one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. A Sinaloa Cartel label in the reporting is context for the investigation, not a separate count, and co-defendants’ prison terms are their judgments, not new accusations against him. Euriel Talavera, 32, of Wichita, identified in Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026 reporting as the ringleader, was sentenced to 228 months, 19 years, after that plea.

KWCH described a Homeland Security Task Force-led operation into a ring connected to the Sinaloa Cartel, distributing fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine from Wichita. The investigation, as reported, included the FBI, Homeland Security, the DEA, and Wichita police, and it began in December 2022. Traffickers traveled from Wichita to Phoenix and other locations for large quantities, then returned to distribute them. Those are facts about how the investigation was described. They are not extra counts added when Talavera was sentenced. His judgment is one conspiracy-to-distribute-fentanyl count and 228 months.

Fourteen other defendants also pleaded guilty or were sentenced. Jonathan Gutierrez-Diaz, 30, received 136 months for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. Joe Louis Washington, 33, of Wichita, received 120 months for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Aron Garcia-Campa, 36, of Wichita, received 96 months on a methamphetamine conspiracy. Alexis Ortega-Ramos, 29, received 72 months for a fentanyl conspiracy. Shelan D. Peters, 24, and Jermel L. Goines, 44, each received 60 months for a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Other defendants were sentenced on communication-facility counts. Katia Nevarez received 12 months and one day on money laundering. Some received probation. Richard Oral Mathie pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and absconded before sentencing. Each of those outcomes belongs to that defendant. None of them is a new accusation against Talavera, and an absconded co-defendant is not a term added to his 228 months. Anyone who still faces charges is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
