Weinstein was sentenced to 15 years on the New York Haley count.

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Manhattan, Harvey Weinstein, 74, was sentenced to fifteen years, then five years of post-release supervision, and sex-offender registration, on a first-degree criminal sex act count involving Miriam Haley in 2006. The sentence follows a 2025 conviction.

A sentence after a conviction is the judgment on that count, not a new trial. On Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, a Manhattan court sentenced Harvey Weinstein, 74, to 15 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision, and ordered him to register as a sex offender, on a first-degree criminal sex act conviction for sexually assaulting former Project Runway production assistant Miriam "Mimi" Haley at his Manhattan apartment in 2006. Prosecutors asked for 20 years. The defense asked for nine, citing his age and health.

The 2025 verdict is the conviction this sentence rests on. A jury convicted him in 2020. The New York Court of Appeals overturned that conviction in 2024 and ordered a new trial. A jury convicted him again in 2025 on Haley's count. Wednesday's hearing imposed the sentence on the count that jury already found. It did not reopen the verdict, and it did not start another trial. He has already served more than six years through the prior cycle of this case. Time already served is custody in that history. It is not a second sentence entered on Wednesday.

The 15 years, the five years of post-release supervision, and the sex-offender registration are the New York judgment on the Haley count. They are not his California case. Reporting describes separate California convictions and a separate California sentence.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
