Hijo de Fishman was arrested after referee Gerardo Germán Pineda died at a lucha libre show.

TMZ and USA TODAY reported that Mexican wrestler Hijo de Fishman was arrested after referee Gerardo Germán Pineda, 75, known as El Búho, died during an El Patrón Espectáculos match in Mineral de la Reforma, Hidalgo, and that he faces a culpable-homicide charge akin to manslaughter. Cageside Seats reported a hearing was still expected to decide whether he would be formally charged.

A culpable-homicide charge, where prosecutors have actually filed one, is an accusation, not a conviction. TMZ and USA TODAY reported that charge, while Cageside Seats said a hearing was still expected to decide whether he would be released or formally charged, and El País México reported a detention for the presumed killing. The promotion says the legal process is still going, and none of those accounts is a verdict.

USA TODAY's Jordan Mendoza reported that the match was an El Patrón Espectáculos Lucha Libre show on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, in Mineral de la Reforma, Hidalgo, and that Hijo de Fishman was in the ring against Máscara Sagrada. USA TODAY and El País México reported he attacked referee Gerardo Germán Pineda, 75, known as El Búho, and that local reports say he then used a double underhook piledriver, a move also called a martinete. TMZ reported Pineda became motionless, medical staff responded, and he was pronounced dead at the venue. El País, citing El Financiero, reported medical staff found no vital signs. Video of the match circulated. The promotion's statement, published by Cageside Seats, placed the events in the early hours of Wednesday, Oct. 7. Those are the reported accounts of what happened in the ring. They are not a court finding that the move caused the death.

TMZ reported Hijo de Fishman was detained Wednesday, Oct. 7, and handed to Hidalgo prosecutors on a culpable homicide charge, which the site described as akin to manslaughter. USA TODAY also reported he was arrested and charged with manslaughter that day. El País México reported he was arrested in connection with the presumed killing and that the Hidalgo prosecutor's office is investigating. Cageside Seats reported he is 36, an independent wrestler, and the son of the lucha libre legend Fishman. Cageside, citing Superluchas, reported a hearing within 48 hours was expected to decide whether he would be released or charged. A reported charge and a hearing that has not happened yet are not the same thing, and neither is a sentence.

Cageside Seats published the promotion's statement. El Patrón Espectáculos said Pineda lost his life, that the company is providing legal assistance to Hijo de Fishman so the case proceeds in front of the proper authorities, and that its lawyer is in contact with Pineda's family and their lawyers. The statement asked fans, the media, and other wrestlers not to spread unconfirmed information while the legal process continues. TMZ, citing The Daily Star, quoted onlooker Steph Heredia, who said the crowd thought the piledriver was part of the show and that the wrestler and the referee had argued before the move. That is her claim, as those outlets reported it. It is not a verified finding. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
