Authorities allege that on March 8, 2026, she drove from Orlando to the Beverly Crest property, pointed an AR-15-style rifle from a vehicle, and fired at least 20 rounds toward the home and a neighboring house. No one was injured. Reporting says bullets hit an Airstream trailer where Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were and struck a nursery wall. Those are charging allegations. They are not findings.

Ortiz appeared in yellow jail clothes. Her attorney entered a not guilty plea, and the judge ordered her held on $2.6 million bail, the Associated Press reported. Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott said outside court that prosecutors view her as someone who wanted to kill Rihanna, with others treated as collateral. A prosecutor’s courtroom comment is advocacy. It is not a verdict. The Associated Press also reported that secret grand jury proceedings ran while she was under psychiatric evaluation, and that the new indictment lets prosecutors skip California’s preliminary hearing.

A competence ruling on Tuesday, Sept. 29, returned the case to the criminal calendar. That finding is separate from guilt. The indictment is the charging step that follows. Ortiz is presumed innocent of every count unless and until a jury convicts.
