The Wednesday indictment is the common pleas charging paper. It is not a conviction. 10TV's account of a witness, identified in municipal court records as Iams' girlfriend, is the account in those records. A witness statement and a $2 million bond do not decide the murder counts. The next date on the calendar is Oct. 16.
10TV reported that Jacob Iams, 43, was indicted Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, by a Franklin County grand jury in a fatal stabbing on Columbus' northeast side. Franklin County Common Pleas Court documents, as 10TV described them, charge two counts of murder, one count of aggravated murder, and one count of felonious assault. Those counts accuse him in the death of Brandon Parsons, 40. An indictment is a charging decision. It is not a finding that Iams killed Parsons.
10TV reported that in the early morning of Oct. 4, Columbus police were called to Cleveland and Reynolds avenues for a reported stabbing. Officers found Parsons with a stab wound. He was taken to Grant Medical Center, where he died. ABC 6 reported that officers arrived at that intersection around 12:38 a.m. Sunday, that medics took Parsons to a hospital, and that he died a short time later. NBC4i reported the call at about 12:40 a.m. and dated it Oct. 5. 10TV and ABC 6 place the response on Oct. 4.
10TV, citing Franklin County Municipal Court records, reported that a witness told detectives her boyfriend, Iams, got into an altercation with Parsons, whom she described as a lifelong friend. During that altercation, Iams allegedly stabbed Parsons in the chest and left in a car. The records, as 10TV reported them, say the witness tried to stop the bleeding with her shirt and then ran home, and that Iams later called and said he was fleeing the Columbus area. He was later arrested in Hocking County. Those are the statements in the court records 10TV described. A jury has not heard them.
NBC4i reported that Parsons identified Iams at the scene, saying "Jacob stabbed me," and that Iams left in a blue hatchback. That is NBC4i's account of the investigation. ABC 6 reported that detectives filed a murder warrant for Iams and that officers in Logan arrested him without incident at about 11:35 a.m. Sunday. Logan is in Hocking County, the county 10TV named for the arrest. The Columbus Dispatch reported Oct. 4 that a 40-year-old man had died in a North Side stabbing and that the man accused in the killing had been arrested.
10TV reported that a judge set Iams' bond at $2 million and that he is set to appear in court next on Oct. 16. NBC4i had reported the same bond figure from his earlier municipal-court appearance. The Oct. 16 date is the next appearance those outlets described. It is not a trial. The murder, aggravated murder, and felonious assault counts remain accusations until a court enters a judgment. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Federal prosecutors charged Rajahshuweh Rhodes, called "Skii Dot," in the 2021 Lower East Side killing of 16-year-old Isaiah Levine.
Five years after a 16-year-old was shot on a Lower East Side corner, the case is now federal, and that changes the stakes. Prosecutors charged Rhodes under racketeering law, alleging the shooting was gang business for the New York Blood Brim Army. Murder in aid of racketeering carries mandatory life or death. These are accusations in an indictment. Rhodes has not been tried, and he has not entered a plea that we could confirm.

Albany County prosecutors charged Khaliq Ibrahim and Jonathan Rampersad in the shooting death of Arell Agapito.
Thursday's arraignment is the first court appearance on the indictment that names both men. It is not a conviction. Ibrahim and Rampersad each pleaded not guilty. The allegation that they acted together, and that Ibrahim fired the shot inside Rampersad's apartment, is the prosecution's account of the indictment. CBS6's Oct. 5 story charged Ibrahim only.
