A Dorchester County grand jury indicted Jacob Motley in the death of Timothy Wolfe Jr.

The Maryland State Police said a grand jury returned the indictment Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, and that Motley, 27, of East New Market, was arrested Wednesday. He is charged with involuntary manslaughter, first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment, and he is held without bond. Police have not said how Wolfe died.

Involuntary manslaughter is the homicide count on this indictment. It is not a murder charge, and the Maryland State Police have not published a cause or a manner of death. The arrest Wednesday puts Motley in the Dorchester County Detention Center without bond. An indictment and a no-bond hold are the accusation.

The Maryland State Police said the Dorchester County State's Attorney's Office presented a case to the county grand jury on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, and that the grand jury indicted Jacob Motley, 27, of East New Market. The department said he is charged with first- and second-degree assault, involuntary manslaughter, and reckless endangerment. It said a Maryland Natural Resources Police officer arrested him without incident during a traffic stop Wednesday morning in Dorchester County, and that he is held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center. The Star Democrat and WMDT reported the same charges, the same Wednesday arrest, and the same no-bond hold. Daily Voice, writing Thursday, reported the arrest came two days after the indictment. None of those accounts reported a plea.

The death those counts sit on is still thinly described. The state police said that shortly before 2 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2026, Dorchester County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a body in the phragmites in the area of Golden Hill Road in Church Creek. A passerby found the body and called police, the department said. It identified him as Timothy D. Wolfe Jr., 35, of no fixed address. WMDT reported the name as Timothy David Wolfe Jr. and reported he was identified on Aug. 28. The Star Democrat uses Timothy D. Wolfe Jr. and no fixed address. Daily Voice reported investigators have not disclosed how Wolfe died, what led to the death, or what evidence connected Motley to the case. The state police release does not give a cause of death, a manner of death, or an account of what Motley is accused of doing. A body in the marsh grass is what police have said was found. It is not a finding that a particular act killed him.

The state police said the homicide unit led the case, with help from troopers at the Easton Barrack, the department's Forensic Sciences Division, the Maryland State Apprehension Team, Natural Resources Police, the sheriff's office, and the state's attorney. The department said the investigation continues. WMDT's earlier August story had asked anyone with information to call investigators and had said the cause was pending an autopsy. Thursday's arrest announcement does not fill that in. The counts on the indictment are the charges. They are not a conviction. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff's officials named Edward Villa as the suspect after Katie Kinder, her son and her mother were found shot to death in Happy Valley.

Thursday's briefing names the three people and names Villa as the only suspect. The warrant was three counts of first-degree murder. He was found dead before an arrest. KPTV, citing Warrenton police, called it an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. KGW reported Detective Matt Lysaght would not go past a gunshot deputies heard, a firearm in the room, and the fact that no officer fired. KPTV and OPB call the motel the South Jetty Inn. The Oregonian calls it the South Jetty Motel.

An Oahu grand jury indicted Orion Satori on a second-degree murder charge in the Young Street stabbing of Kiril Stoimenov.

An indictment means a grand jury found enough to send the case forward. It is not a finding of guilt. Police have said Satori did the stabbing, according to Hawaii News Now. The next step is arraignment, where he will be asked to enter a plea. Second-degree murder in Hawaii carries a maximum of life with the possibility of parole, the station reported.
