An indictment and an arrest warrant are charging papers. They are not a finding that Garrett fired. Action News 5 listed two firearm counts and a $5 million bond figure that also names Bobby Joyner. The Memphis Police Department listed one firearm count and did not publish a bond or the names of the people who were shot.

Action News 5 reported Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, that Jada Garrett, 22, was booked Monday on indictment charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and two counts of employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony. The Memphis Police Department, in a release dated Oct. 6, said an arrest warrant charged her with first-degree murder, criminal attempted first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and that she was located and taken into custody on Oct. 5. Monday was Oct. 5. The outlets agree on the day she was taken in and on murder, attempted murder, and especially aggravated robbery. They do not agree on whether the gun charge is one count or two, or on the name of that count. Action News 5 called the filing an indictment. The department called it an arrest warrant. A charge list is the accusation.

The department said that on May 4, 2026, at about 12:07 a.m., officers went to a shooting call in the 800 block of Hamilton Street, found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds, and that the man was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The department did not name either person. Action News 5, citing records, reported Garrett is accused of shooting and killing Lee Mhoon, 35, during a premeditated robbery on May 4 on Hamilton Street near Douglass Avenue, that Mhoon died at the scene, and that a woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The station placed the shooting in Orange Mound. The woman is not named in either account. What the records accuse Garrett of doing is the charge. It is not a finding that she shot Mhoon.

Action News 5 reported that in September police also arrested Bobby Joyner, 19, in connection with the shooting, and that Garrett and Joyner's bond was set at $5 million. The station did not say whether that figure is for each of them, for one of them, or for the case as a whole. The Memphis Police Department release used here does not mention Joyner or a bond. Joyner's September arrest is a separate booking in the same investigation. It is not a verdict against Garrett. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
