St. Petersburg police arrested Jaida Thomas-McFatten on a warrant in a deadly scooter hit-and-run.

Jaida Thomas-McFatten, 19, was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, on a warrant for leaving the scene of a crash involving death, the St. Petersburg Police Department told FOX 13 Tampa Bay, WFLA, WTSP, and Tampa Bay 28. Police say a Toyota sedan she was driving hit a 37-year-old man on a standing electric scooter about 10 p.m. on Aug. 19 at 5th Avenue North and Tyrone Boulevard North, then fled. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. FOX 13 reported next of kin had not been notified; he is not named here.

An arrest on a leaving-the-scene warrant is an accusation. It is not a conviction for causing the death. Police described the man crossing outside the crosswalk and against the walk signal into the westbound curb lane. That is the department's account of how the collision happened. The charge filed is leaving the scene of a crash involving death. Causation and fault remain for a court, not a press release.

Jaida Thomas-McFatten, 19, was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, on a warrant for leaving the scene of a crash involving death, FOX 13 Tampa Bay reported, citing the St. Petersburg Police Department. WFLA, WTSP, and Tampa Bay 28 carried the same arrest. The crash was Aug. 19. The arrest was nearly two months later. A warrant and a booking are process. They are not a jury finding.

Police said the crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Aug. 19 at 5th Avenue North and Tyrone Boulevard North in St. Petersburg. FOX 13 reported Thomas-McFatten was driving a Toyota sedan westbound on 5th Avenue North when the vehicle hit a 37-year-old man riding a standing electric scooter. Investigators said the man was traveling south to north across 5th Avenue North outside the crosswalk and against the pedestrian walk signal, entered the westbound curb lane, and was hit by the sedan, which threw him from the scooter, then fled, the department told FOX 13. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

FOX 13 reported that as of its Oct. 13 story, police said the man's next of kin had not been notified. He is not named in this account. The charge is leaving the scene of a crash involving death. FOX 13 reported police had not released a mug shot as of that story. No booking photograph appears with this file for that reason.

An August fatal crash and an October warrant arrest are not the same day. The department's description of where the man crossed and who fled is the police narrative in a leaving-the-scene case. Whether a jury will ever decide more than the leaving-scene count is not settled by the arrest. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

A Las Vegas judge sentenced Shiloh Leutu to 3 to 8 years in a food-bank beating death.

A voluntary-manslaughter plea and a three-to-eight-year term are the conviction and the sentence on that count. They are not a murder verdict. News 3 reported Leutu received credit for 84 days served. The Review-Journal reported a warrant remains for a second man, Justin Ott. Leutu's sentence does not resolve Ott's case.

Washburn County charged Colton Christopherson with first-degree intentional homicide in his father's death.

A charge and a quoted admission in a complaint are the start of a case. They are not a conviction. Allan Christopherson coached Wayzata boys golf to four state titles. His son faces the most serious intentional-homicide count Wisconsin files. Bail at $5 million and a competency order mean the court is still deciding whether he can stand trial, not what a jury has found.
