A murder charge is the accusation the sheriff's office filed. It is not a conviction. FOX 26 Houston and ABC13 reported that Gonzalez said Castillo and Orozco had been in an intimate relationship, and that Houston police later found Castillo and booked him into the Harris County Jail. A relationship investigators describe, and a booking, are not a finding that Castillo stabbed anyone.
FOX 26 Houston and ABC13 reported Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, that Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Jaime Castillo, 20, was charged with murder in the death of Jose Orozco, 23. FOX 26 reported the killing happened Monday night in the 4400 block of Sandydale Lane, near John F. Kennedy Boulevard in the Aldine area. ABC13 reported Gonzalez said deputies were answering a welfare check when they found Orozco unresponsive inside the home with multiple stab wounds, and that he was pronounced dead at the scene. FOX 26 reported the sheriff's office found Orozco stabbed to death. A death at a welfare check is what those stations reported. It is not a verdict.
ABC13 reported Gonzalez said detectives determined Castillo and Orozco had been in an intimate relationship, and that Gonzalez said, "This case is being investigated as an intimate-partner/domestic violence homicide." FOX 26 reported the sheriff's office said the two had been in a relationship and that the stabbing is being investigated as intimate partner violence. An investigation label is how the sheriff's office is treating the case. It does not decide who used the knife.
FOX 26 reported Houston police later located Castillo, who was taken into custody and charged. ABC13 reported he was booked into the Harris County Jail. Gonzalez wrote, "Another life tragically lost to intimate-partner violence. Our thoughts are with Orozco's family and loved ones as they grieve this devastating loss," FOX 26 reported. A charge and a jail booking are the start of the case.
ABC13 reported Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, citing a Harris County Sheriff's Office release, that the welfare check started with a call from Colorado. The caller told police his brother in the Houston area had said he stabbed his partner. That Wednesday story spelled the defendant's first name Jamie. Tuesday's FOX 26 and ABC13 stories spelled it Jaime. ABC13 reported deputies tied the call to the house on Sandydale Lane, that Castillo gave officers the wrong location when they reached him, and that Houston police arrested him at 4303 Charriton Drive. He was questioned at the sheriff's homicide office, and the Harris County District Attorney's Office accepted a murder charge. ABC13 reported both families told investigators the two had been dating for several months to a year. The Houston Chronicle, citing court records, reported the charging documents allege he stabbed Orozco with a knife, that he had no prior criminal history in Harris County, and that bail had not been set, with a hearing slated for Wednesday. A sheriff's release about a phone call is an account of how the search started. It is not a confession in court. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
