True Crime

James Stacey Riedman was booked at the Salt Lake County Jail after Kade Tuttle was found shot outside a Redwood Road apartment.

KSL says he was booked for investigation of murder and corrects his age to 47. A KSL key takeaway still spells him Jasmes. KUTV says he faces first-degree felony murder and puts the call on Monday. The Salt Lake County jail roster lists the booking date as Nov. 3, 2026.

Booked for investigation, and faces a count, are not the same label. Monday, and Tuesday, Nov. 3, are not the same day. The roster prints murder as an F1 and an obstruction line that says capital/first degree felony conduct beside a degree of F2. No page read here printed a court date. Kade Tuttle is the man who was killed. He was 24.

KSL, by Pat Reavy, posted Nov. 4, 2026, at 8:43 a.m. and updated at 9:56 a.m., with no time zone on either stamp, says a 47-year-old Salt Lake City man was arrested Tuesday afternoon and accused of fatally shooting his roommate through a closed door. The body spells him James Stacey Riedman and says he was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of murder and obstruction of justice. A key takeaway on the same page spells him Jasmes Stacey Riedman. Jasmes, and James, are not the same spelling, and both are on the updated page. A correction at the bottom says James Stacey Riedman is 47, and that an earlier version incorrectly stated he was 27. The key takeaway was not changed to James. KUTV, by Derick Fox, published Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, at 9:21 a.m. and updated at 9:46 a.m., with no time zone, says James Stacey Riedman, 47, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail where he faces one count of first-degree felony murder and second-degree felony obstruction of justice. Booked for investigation, on KSL, and faces one count, on KUTV, are not the same charging sentence. FOX 13, by Jeff Tavss, in the page text read here, which does not print a clock, says he faces charges of murder and obstruction of justice. It does not print a felony degree. Gephardt Daily, by Gephardt Daily Staff, dated November 4, 2026, with no clock, says he has been booked for investigation of murder, a first-degree felony, and for obstruction of justice-capitol, a second-degree felony. Capitol, on that page, is not capital. The Salt Lake County jail roster, read as the public inmate profile for James Stacey Riedman, prints a booking date of Nov. 3, 2026. It prints an offense dated Nov. 3, 2026, described as murder, code 76-5-203, degree F1. It prints a second offense that date, described as OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE - CAPITAL/FIRST DEGREE FELONY CONDUCT, code 76-8-306(2)+(3A), degree F2. The description says capital/first degree felony conduct. The degree column says F2. Those are both on the roster. They are not the same label. KUTV's second-degree felony, Gephardt Daily's second-degree felony, and the roster's F2 are the degree. Gephardt Daily's capitol spelling is not the roster's wording, and KSL prints neither a degree nor that description.

The day is not one day. KSL says he was arrested Tuesday afternoon. The call, on KSL, is "Just after 1 p.m.," and that sentence does not print a date. KUTV says officers responded just after 1 p.m. on Monday. Gephardt Daily quotes the arrest document as "today (Tuesday, Nov. 3)." FOX 13 says Tuesday and does not print a clock. Monday, on a story dated Wednesday, Nov. 4, is not Tuesday, Nov. 3. The jail roster's booking date and both offense dates are Nov. 3, 2026. The place is not one address. KSL and Gephardt Daily print 768 N. Redwood Road. KUTV prints the apartment near 700 North Redwood Road. FOX 13 does not print a street number. It says Redwood Road was shut down in both directions between 700 North and 800 North, and that other residents were told to shelter in place. 768 N. Redwood Road, near 700 North, and a closure from 700 North to 800 North are not the same location line. The standoff is not one length. KSL says an hours-long standoff before he surrendered. KUTV says a SWAT response and a standoff that shut down Redwood Road for several hours, and that he surrendered and was taken into custody without any further incident. FOX 13 says he was arrested immediately after surrendering, and later says that after his eventual surrender he had barricaded himself for approximately 2 hours, and later calls the incident hours-long. Immediately, eventually, approximately 2 hours, and hours-long are all on that page. Gephardt Daily says a SWAT team and negotiators were called, and that negotiators were able to get him "to surrendered" after about three hours. To surrendered is the verb on that page. KSL does not print SWAT. What officers found is not one medical line. KSL says officers determined Kade Tuttle, 24, was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. KUTV says he was pronounced dead at the scene. FOX 13 says the 24-year-old was found dead from a gunshot wound. Gephardt Daily says Detective Michael Ruff of Salt Lake City Police said life-saving attempts were made and the victim was deceased, and that the arrest document says he was unresponsive outside the door. Deceased from an apparent gunshot, pronounced dead at the scene, dead from a gunshot wound, and life-saving attempts with a deceased victim are not the same sentence. Gephardt Daily also says court documents identify him as K.T. K.T., and Kade Tuttle, are not the same form. The outlets name him as Kade Tuttle, 24.

The account after the surrender is the affidavit, and the outlets do not print it as one paragraph. KSL says he told police he began renting a room to Tuttle a few weeks ago, that he locked him out, and that he became scared when Tuttle allegedly yelled that he was going to kick the door down. It says he fired one round through the door, claimed he intended to scare Tuttle, admitted hearing a gasp, did not open the door, did not call police or emergency services, and that the affidavit says he hid the firearm and the spent cartridge casing. KSL puts hid in parentheses. It also prints "lock ((Tuttle)" with two opening parentheses, and "scare Tuttle But" with no period before But. KUTV says he fired a single round toward the door. Toward the door, and through the door, are not the same path. KUTV prints "toTuttle" and "whenTuttle" with no space, and "why believed" with no he. FOX 13 says he fired one round through the front door after Tuttle yelled that he was going to kick the door down, and the page blanks the word inside that yell. It says he hid the gun and the spent cartridge. Cartridge, on FOX 13, and cartridge casing, on KSL, and spent casing, on KUTV, are not the same noun. Gephardt Daily quotes the document as secreted the firearm and secreted the spent cartridge casing, and it says he told police he had rented a room in the apartment he owned. Owned, on Gephardt Daily, and renting a room, on KSL, KUTV, and FOX 13, are not the same claim about the apartment. Each of those pages says he could not give reasonable facts for why he believed he was in imminent danger. KSL, KUTV, and FOX 13 use articulate or provide. Gephardt Daily says he "was not able to present any reasonable facts." Articulate, provide, and present are not the same verb. Gephardt Daily also says the document notes an opposing apartment was occupied by a teenager. The teenager is not named. KSL, KUTV, and FOX 13 do not print that line. Gephardt Daily says he is held without bail. The jail roster prints a bond amount of 0.00, a status of Open, and a set time of Nov. 4, 2026, at 8:45, with no zone. Without bail, and a bond amount of 0.00 with a status of Open, are not the same sentence. KSL, KUTV, and FOX 13 do not print a bond. The roster does not print a photograph. A charge is not a conviction. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

WJLA says Judge Neal Kravitz found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. NBC4 says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Voluntary manslaughter while armed, and voluntary manslaughter, and manslaughter, are not the same count. A bench outside Father O'Connell Hall, and a park on the campus, and a small plaza by that hall, and the 600 block of Alumni Lane, are not the same place. Brookland-CUA Metro, and Brookland Metro, and Brookland-Catholic University Metro, are not the same station line. Snapchat messages, and a message, and an urgent message, are not the same account. Cash App, and cash app, and $300 with no app named, are not the same line. Judge Kravitz accepted the plea and found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. A 12-to-15-year range is not the sentence. Sentencing has not happened.
