A first-degree murder charge and a gun count are accusations in a warrant. They are not a finding that the shooting was unjustified. WBBJ reported Fuller told deputies and 911 he acted in self-defense. Tippah News reported the warrant says the man was trying to leave the driveway when he was shot, and that the sheriff's office had not set a bond or a first court date as of Tuesday evening.

WBBJ reported Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, citing an affidavit of complaint from the Hardeman County Sheriff's Office, that Jatarious Fuller, 34, of Simmons Loop in Toone, is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony. Tippah News reported the same two charges and described the gun count as possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. WBBJ reported a warrant for Fuller's arrest was issued Tuesday. A warrant and a charge name a defendant. They do not decide whether the shooting was a crime or self-defense.

WBBJ and Tippah News reported that deputies and investigators went to a home on Simmons Loop in Toone at about 3:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, on a report of a shooting, and that Fuller was on the front porch when they arrived. WBBJ reported the affidavit says Fuller made spontaneous statements that he shot the man in self-defense, and that he had also told 911 dispatchers it was self-defense. Tippah News reported the sheriff's office said he claimed self-defense to dispatchers and again to investigators at the scene. Both outlets reported the man was found slumped in the front seat of a vehicle with two gunshot wounds, one to the chest and one to the left arm. WBBJ reported the affidavit says he had no pulse or respirations, his pupils were fixed and dilated, and he had been without a pulse or breathing for at least 15 minutes.

WBBJ, citing the affidavit, identified the man as Charles Roosevelt Sain. Tippah News reported Tuesday evening that the victim's name had not been released. The two accounts are not the same on that point. WBBJ is describing a name in the affidavit. Tippah News is describing what the sheriff's office had put out. WBBJ reported Fuller told officials at the sheriff's office that Sain pulled into the driveway, got out, and banged on the front door, that Fuller looked out a window, yelled for him to leave or he would shoot, then got his firearm, went outside, saw Sain in the vehicle, walked into the driveway, and shot him. Tippah News reported the same sequence from the warrant, without using the man's name. Both reported that Fuller said he then reached into the vehicle, put it in park, turned it off, took the handgun inside, wrapped it, and laid it on his bed. That is his account in the charging papers.

WBBJ reported investigators recovered four spent shell casings and one live round in the driveway, and that a search warrant signed by a circuit court judge turned up the firearm, a Taurus 9mm, inside the home. Tippah News reported the arrest warrant says the man was trying to leave the driveway when he was shot, and that investigators concluded he was trying to leave. That is the warrant's account of the shooting, set against the self-defense claim Fuller gave. Tippah News reported that as of Tuesday evening the sheriff's office had not released a bond amount or a first court date. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
