Reed was sentenced to 81 months in federal prison for a machinegun and drug-trafficking firearm count.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, Jeremiah Dashaun Reed, 25, of Charlotte, was sentenced in the Western District of North Carolina to 81 months in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty in March 2026 to possessing a machinegun and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime. WSOC reported the term as 6 years and 9 months.

A federal sentence after a guilty plea is the court's judgment on the admitted counts. It is not a fresh accusation. U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson announced that Jeremiah Dashaun Reed, 25, of Charlotte, received 81 months plus three years of supervised release for a Glock converted with a switch and related firearm-and-drug counts from two August 2024 traffic stops. Ten days after a state arrest and bond release, he was stopped again with guns and narcotics, the office said.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, Jeremiah Dashaun Reed, 25, of Charlotte, was sentenced in the Western District of North Carolina to 81 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced. WSOC, covering the same announcement on Friday, Oct. 2, described the term as 6 years and 9 months. Reed pleaded guilty in March 2026 to possession of a machinegun and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime. A sentence after a plea is the judgment on those counts.

According to the Justice Department account, Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers on Aug. 13, 2024, recovered a black Glock converted into a machinegun with a conversion device, or Glock switch, plus more than 300 pills of controlled substances after observing Reed with a firearm and making a traffic stop. He was released on bond on state charges. Ten days later, on Aug. 23, 2024, Mint Hill officers stopped his vehicle; he ran when told the car would be searched, was caught, and officers found a loaded Glock with an extended magazine under the driver's seat, a second firearm under the front passenger seat, and more narcotics and prescription drugs.

U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson said Reed was back on the streets with a gun and drugs ten days after the state arrest, and that people who refuse to change after being caught will find themselves in the federal system. ATF, CMPD, and Mint Hill Police investigated. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Charlotte prosecuted. The Oct. 1 hearing imposed the federal sentence; it did not file a new charge.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
