A murder charge after a Saturday-night shooting is the accusation. It is not a finding that Stevens fired the shots. The Press Herald spells the man who died Cory and says the autopsy was Saturday. WGAN spells the charged man Jeremey and says the autopsy was Sunday. FOX Bangor, citing state police, spells the man who died Corey. The investigation is still open.

The Portland Press Herald reported Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, that officers found 41-year-old Cory Fields of Indian Island dead at 312 Peter Dana Point Road. The paper, citing a Maine State Police news release, reported that the major crimes unit's investigation led to the arrest of 46-year-old Jeremy Stevens of Indian Township, that he was charged with murder, and that he was taken to the Washington County Jail in Machias. WABI reported the same names, the same ages, the same charge, and the Washington County Jail, and it described the address as a home on Peter Dana Point Road without the street number. WGAN reported police arrested 46-year-old Jeremey Stevens of Indian Township and charged him with murder, and it spelled the man who died Cory Fields. FOX Bangor reported 46-year-old Jeremy Stevens was arrested and charged with murder, and it spelled the man who died Corey Fields, which the station said was according to Maine State Police. A charging announcement is the accusation.

The clock and the first officers on the scene are close, and they are not identical. The Press Herald reported Indian Township police and fire responded to a report of a shooting just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday and found Fields' body. FOX Bangor reported a state police spokesperson said Indian Township Police received a report of a shooting on Peter Dana Point Road around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 10. WABI did not give a time. WGAN said Saturday night. The Press Herald reported the Maine State Police major crimes unit and evidence response team took the investigation, and that the Passamaquoddy Tribal Warden Service and the Washington County Sheriff's Office also responded. FOX Bangor reported State Police, township police, township fire rescue, the warden service, and the sheriff's office responded, and that Major Crimes Unit-North arrested Stevens. WABI reported an investigation led to the arrest and that no further information had been released. A response list is who the outlets say went. It is not a verdict.

The autopsy day is the sharpest split. The Press Herald reported Fields' body was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, that the office determined the death was a homicide, and that an autopsy performed Saturday concluded the cause was gunshot wounds. WGAN reported the body went to the same office and that an autopsy performed Sunday noted gunshot wounds as the cause of death. WGAN did not use the word homicide for that finding. WABI reported an autopsy determined Fields died from gunshot wounds and that the death was ruled a homicide, and it did not say which day the autopsy was done. FOX Bangor reported the autopsy determined the cause was gunshot wounds and that the death was ruled a homicide, and it also did not date the exam. Saturday and Sunday are both in Sunday's stories. The Press Herald, WABI, and FOX Bangor all reported the investigation is continuing.

FOX Bangor is the outlet that quoted a relative. The station reported Fields' cousin, Gabreill Fields-Love, said, "For those he cared about he went out of his way to make sure you knew that he cared about you," and that he "had a heart of gold, with a fighting spirit." FOX Bangor reported she believes the shooting arose from an interpersonal conflict, and that she said that is not confirmed while the investigation is in its early stages. A cousin's belief is not a police account of a motive. FOX Bangor reported Fields leaves three children, two of them under 18. The children are not named here. The Press Herald, WABI, and WGAN did not describe a motive or name a relative. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
