Calhoun pleaded not guilty to manslaughter in a sixth death. That count is not a sixth murder charge.
On Monday, Sept. 21, in Multnomah County, Jesse Calhoun pleaded not guilty to first-degree manslaughter for Elizabeth Gibson, a count with a different mental state than five pending murder counts.

A sixth caption is still an accusation, and a not-guilty plea does not try it. On Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, Jesse Calhoun, 41, appeared in Multnomah County Circuit Court, and his lawyer entered a not-guilty plea to first-degree manslaughter in the death of Elizabeth “Libby” Gibson, 32. Manslaughter is a different mental-state theory than the five pending second-degree murder counts, on which he has already pleaded not guilty.
The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office announced that a grand jury indicted Calhoun for first-degree manslaughter for unlawfully and recklessly, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, causing Gibson's death on or about Nov. 18, 2022. She disappeared in late November 2022. District Attorney Nathan Vasquez said her body has not been found, and he set arraignment for Monday. The Oregonian reported that the indictment was filed in connection with Monday's hearing and that lawyer Cameron Taylor entered the not-guilty plea on Calhoun's behalf. A plea entered by counsel is process. It is not a finding, and a missing body is not a reason to write a manner of death the State has not proved.
The murder counts already name Ashley Real, 22; Kristin Smith, 22; Charity Perry, 24; Bridget Webster, 31; and Joanna Speaks, 32. Those cases, as already reported, also include abuse-of-corpse counts. They still have to be proved, count by count. Adding Gibson, or pleading not guilty to her count, does not convert the other five into convictions and does not upgrade this caption from manslaughter to murder. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
