Prosecutors allege Proia contacted Miller more than 40 times between Aug. 3 and Sept. 23, 2026, using an ever-changing series of VoIP numbers, and also sent messages to her parents. U.S. Attorney Leah Foley said the defendant allegedly targeted the victim, her husband, and her family with deeply disturbing communications. FBI Boston Special Agent in Charge Ted Docks said the arrest followed an alleged sustained harassment campaign. Those are government allegations in a charging case.

The Washington Examiner reported that a conviction on the cyberstalking count could expose Proia to up to five years in prison. That figure is statutory exposure if convicted, not a judgment.
