A guilty plea is a conviction on the counts he admitted. It is not the sentence. Eden Prairie Local News reported the agreement calls for 100 days in jail, 20 days of sentence-to-service work, and three years of probation, with the remaining counts to be dismissed at sentencing. The judge still has to impose that term.
Eden Prairie Local News reported that a Dec. 16, 2025, complaint said officers were sent at 8:18 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2025, after a driver struck pedestrians and left. Kamawal was in a marked crosswalk at Mitchell Road and Chestnut Drive when a vehicle hit her and one of her children. FOX 9 reported the child, who was 2, was critically injured and the mother had minor injuries, and that witnesses described a white sedan leaving. The child is not named in this story.
FOX 9 reported Brecount was a volunteer chaplain with the Eden Prairie Police Department. He admitted he was texting, heard a bump, thought he had clipped a crosswalk sign, and drove to a Culver's to look at the car instead of stopping. The next morning he called police and said, "I think it was me." The station confirmed he resigned as chaplain. Eden Prairie Local News reported the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension found blood and fibers on his vehicle that DNA testing linked to the mother.
He entered the pleas Oct. 5 in Hennepin County District Court. The agreement calls for a three-year stay of imposition on the felony and a concurrent 364-day stay of execution on the gross misdemeanor. The state agreed to withdraw a request for an aggravated sentence. The other two counts are to be dismissed when he is sentenced Dec. 7. The plea is the conviction on the counts he admitted. The December hearing is the sentence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Randal Moon Jr. was sentenced to 86 years in the Delaware County killing of Michael D. Greer. Ameariss Aponte and Amy Singhas are still charged.
Moon's sentence is the judgment on his conviction. It is not a finding against the co-defendants who have not been tried. WISH-TV reported forensic evidence showed Greer was still alive when the car was set on fire. That evidence was part of the case the jury heard against Moon. Aponte's trial was postponed. Singhas is set for Nov. 16.

A DuPage County judge ordered Chance Jamerson held on attempted armed-robbery charges in the Oakbrook Center shooting.
A detention order is a custody ruling. It is not a conviction. Prosecutors say Jamerson set up a robbery of people who brought about $2,000 to buy Swatch watches, and that Hill was shot with his own gun during a struggle. Berlin said Illinois law treats that shooting as justified force against a forcible felony. That is the state's position. A jury has not heard the case.
