A murder charge after a husband calls in a body is the booking. It is not a finding that Jon Quezada killed Anna Ulibarri, and it is not a finding that the hotel-lobby account is the whole night. KOAT names the murder count as first-degree and attributes the beating allegation to the sheriff's office. ABC 7 Amarillo, citing Sheriff Michael Brockett, says she had numerous serious injuries and that another person helped direct deputies to the field. That other person is not charged in either account.

KOAT reported Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, that the Curry County Sheriff's Office said deputies went to a call from a man who said he found his wife in a field near the 800 block of Curry Road U. The station identified her as Anna Ulibarri, 36, and reported she was pronounced dead at the scene. ABC 7 Amarillo reported Jon Quezada, 39, of Plainview, called the sheriff's office around 4 p.m. Friday and said he had found his wife's body in a field in the 800 block of Curry Road U, west of Cannon Air Force Base. ABC 7 reported Quezada and another person directed deputies to the body, and that Sheriff Michael Brockett said Ulibarri had sustained numerous serious injuries. KOAT did not name a second person at the field. A caller who leads deputies to a body is the start of the report. It is not, by itself, the charge.

Both outlets describe a hotel on Mabry Drive in Clovis before the field. ABC 7 reported Quezada and Ulibarri stayed at a hotel in the 2900 block of Mabry Drive on Thursday night. KOAT reported a hotel on Mabry Drive and did not give the block. Both reported that around 3 a.m. Friday, Ulibarri contacted the front desk and asked for security. ABC 7 reported that a short time later Quezada found her in the lobby, threatened her, and ordered her to leave the building, and that in the parking lot he beat her and forced her into a vehicle. KOAT, citing a sheriff's office spokesperson, reported he confronted her in the lobby, threatened her, and ordered her to leave, and that police say he then allegedly beat her, forced her into a vehicle, and left the hotel. A lobby request for security and a parking-lot allegation are what investigators say happened before the 4 p.m. call. They have not been tested in court.

KOAT reported Quezada has been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and unlawful possession of a firearm or device, and that he is being held at the Curry County Adult Detention Center. ABC 7 reported the same four charges and worded the last one as unlawful possession of a firearm or destructive device. ABC 7's charge line did not use the words first-degree. KOAT's did. The person ABC 7 said helped direct deputies to the body is not named and is not described as charged. A stack of charges after a death investigation is the accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.

WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.

The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.

A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
