Godbey sentenced Alarcon Sanchez to 35 months on a firearm count. That judgment is not a bridge-shooting conviction.
On Monday, Sept. 21, in the Northern District of Texas, Judge Godbey sentenced Alarcon Sanchez to 35 months for unlawful firearm possession as an undocumented immigrant. The Margaret McDermott Bridge on New Year's Eve is background in that case, and the sentence is not a new charge and not a bridge-shooting conviction.

A sentence after a federal prosecution is the end of the trial phase on that count. It is not a new accusation, and it is not a separate conviction for firing from the bridge. On Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, U.S. District Judge David C. Godbey sentenced Jose Raul Alarcon Sanchez to 35 months in federal prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm as an undocumented immigrant. That 35-month term is the judgment on the possession count the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas prosecuted.
He was one of two men seen in widely circulated footage firing weapons from Dallas's Margaret McDermott Bridge on New Year's Eve. Dallas police recovered more than 100 casings from the bridge. A complaint cited about 79 casings in 5.56 or.223, and additional 9mm casings, at his position. He was arrested in January in Grand Prairie on a shots-fired call. Live rounds were in his pockets and in a van. A search of his home recovered multiple firearms, including an AR-15-style pistol linked to casings from the bridge, and a Mexican passport. Coverage of the sentence also states that he had overstayed a temporary visitor visa issued in May 2025. Those are the complaint and search facts in the sentence coverage. The Monday sentence, as the Justice Department and FOX 4 stated it, is 35 months for unlawful possession of a firearm as an undocumented immigrant. No injuries were reported from the bridge gunfire in that coverage.
Anthony Acevedo, 20, was also arrested in connection with the bridge gunfire, on a state discharge charge, and was released on bond. That is co-suspect context on a different file.

Tuscaloosa police charged Daronte Collins with felony murder after a Saturday apartment-complex shooting.
WBRC's jail photo is captioned Daronte Collins and puts both men at 22. The Tuscaloosa Thread, citing Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall, spells the charged man Deronte and puts both at 20. Patch and the Calhoun Journal also use Daronte and 20. A felony-murder count, which the Thread and the Journal describe as Alabama's rule when someone dies during a robbery, is not a finding that Collins fired the shot that killed Tyson. The Thread says the 25-year-old has not been charged.

High Point police charged Kymberli Bowden with first-degree murder in her 13-year-old daughter's death.
The Oct. 8 release is a new murder count on a case the department charged in 2025 as felony child abuse and concealment of death. It is not a trial. The murder-charge release says she remains in jail with no bond. WXII reported a violent-offense hold and a $1 million bond on the older counts. The 2025 release listed her age as 44. The murder-charge release, WXII, and FOX 35 Orlando list 45.

Chicago police charged Chevazz Campbell in the stabbing death of CTA janitor Julian Mobley.
A detention hearing is the first court date. It is not a finding that Campbell stabbed anyone. The department's Sunday release says he robbed and fatally stabbed a 41-year-old man in the 2000 block of West Lake Street. ABC7 and CBS Chicago name that man as Julian Mobley and describe a fare dispute that turned into a stabbing. The department's charge list and CBS Chicago's shorter summary do not match count for count.
