Two counts of attempted murder are charges. They are not a conviction. Aguillar Alvarez, on NBC Los Angeles, and Aguilar-Alvarez, on CBS Los Angeles, are not the same spelling. A brother, on NBC Los Angeles, and a relative, on CBS Los Angeles, are not the same relationship. A 58-year-old woman, and a woman in her 50s, are not the same age line. Just before 3:30 p.m., and the afternoon, are not the same clock.

NBC Los Angeles, by Jonathan Lloyd and Dennis Broad, published Nov. 4, 2026, and updated at 12:19 p.m., reported a 38-year-old man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after a woman and her teen son were found critically injured last week in a Hawthorne apartment. The page does not print a zone on that clock. It spelled him Juan Aguillar Alvarez, with two l's and no hyphen, and reported the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told NBC4 Investigates he is the brother of the woman and that he was arrested Thursday on an unrelated matter shortly after the victims were discovered. CBS Los Angeles, by Julie Sharp, published Nov. 4, 2026, at 12:07 p.m. PST, spelled him Juan Aguilar-Alvarez, with one l and a hyphen, and reported the sheriff's department identified him Wednesday as a relative of both victims. Aguillar Alvarez, and Aguilar-Alvarez, are not the same spelling. A brother, and a relative, are not the same relationship. Thirty-eight is NBC Los Angeles. CBS Los Angeles does not print his age. Thursday, on NBC Los Angeles, is the day of the unrelated arrest. CBS Los Angeles says he was arrested on an unrelated charge and does not print Thursday. Wednesday, on CBS Los Angeles, is the day the department identified him in that story. It is not a word NBC Los Angeles uses for the charging day. NBC Los Angeles reported the woman and the teen remained hospitalized Wednesday in critical condition. CBS Los Angeles reported both victims are currently in critical condition at a local hospital due to severe injuries. Wednesday, and currently, are not the same time word.

The scene line is not one address. NBC Los Angeles reported the 58-year-old woman and 17-year-old boy were found at an apartment on 139th Street near Prairie Avenue just before 3:30 p.m., according to the sheriff's department, and that homicide detectives responded to assist Hawthorne police. CBS Los Angeles reported deputies responded to an apartment in the 4000 block of 139th Street in the afternoon of Oct. 29. Just before 3:30 p.m., and the afternoon, are not the same clock. Near Prairie Avenue is NBC Los Angeles. The 4000 block is CBS Los Angeles. Oct. 29 is the date CBS Los Angeles prints. NBC Los Angeles says last week and does not print Oct. 29 in the charging paragraphs. Fifty-eight, on NBC Los Angeles, and a woman in her 50s, on CBS Los Angeles, are not the same age. Seventeen, on NBC Los Angeles, and a juvenile son, on CBS Los Angeles, are not the same word. The woman is not named on either page. Her son is not named on either page. CBS Los Angeles reported they were suffering from blunt-force trauma and that the mother was "pronounced death imminent by an emergency room doctor," according to the sheriff's department. NBC Los Angeles reported they were found unconscious with traumatic wounds, that officials described the injuries as blunt force trauma, and that the charges include allegations he personally used a deadly weapon, "identified by prosecutors at a baseball bat," and personally inflicted great bodily injury, causing both to become comatose due to brain injuries and paralysis. The word at, before a baseball bat, is the preposition on that page. A baseball bat, comatose, brain injuries, and paralysis are NBC Los Angeles. They are not on the CBS Los Angeles story. Pronounced death imminent, on CBS Los Angeles, and remained in critical condition, on both pages, are not the same medical status. CBS Los Angeles does not print Prairie Avenue, 3:30 p.m., 58, 17, or a phone number. NBC Los Angeles asked anyone with information to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at 323-890-5500. CBS Los Angeles does not print that number.

What the two stories agree on is a charging announcement, not a result. Both reported two counts of attempted murder. Both reported an earlier arrest on an unrelated matter. Both reported the two people were still in critical condition when the stories were published. NBC Los Angeles does not print a court date, a plea, or a bail amount. CBS Los Angeles does not print those either. A charge is the step those pages describe. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

WJLA says Judge Neal Kravitz found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. NBC4 says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Voluntary manslaughter while armed, and voluntary manslaughter, and manslaughter, are not the same count. A bench outside Father O'Connell Hall, and a park on the campus, and a small plaza by that hall, and the 600 block of Alumni Lane, are not the same place. Brookland-CUA Metro, and Brookland Metro, and Brookland-Catholic University Metro, are not the same station line. Snapchat messages, and a message, and an urgent message, are not the same account. Cash App, and cash app, and $300 with no app named, are not the same line. Judge Kravitz accepted the plea and found Jaime Macedo guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed. A 12-to-15-year range is not the sentence. Sentencing has not happened.
