Junior Jose Davila-Moran was charged after a Sadsbury Township woman told police she drove him off with a weed whacker.

WGAL and LancasterOnline reported that Davila-Moran, 26, of Hamilton Township, New Jersey, was arrested Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, after an Oct. 14 encounter in the 300 block of Creek Road. WGAL's charge list uses attempted kidnapping and attempted false imprisonment. LancasterOnline's Oct. 17 story says kidnapping and false imprisonment. The woman is 23 in both accounts. Neither story printed her name.

The weed whacker, the knife and the handcuffs are what the affidavit says she told investigators, as both outlets reported it. The charge titles are not printed the same way. WGAL's Oct. 21 story added an ICE detainer lodged Oct. 19. That detainer is a federal request to the jail. It is not a finding on the Pennsylvania counts. LancasterOnline's Saturday account still had no bail figure.

Pennsylvania State Police charged Junior Jose Davila-Moran, 26, after a 23-year-old woman told investigators a man approached her with a knife and handcuffs outside her home in Sadsbury Township, WGAL and LancasterOnline reported. WGAL identified him as Junior Davila-Moran of Hamilton. LancasterOnline used his full name, Junior Jose Davila-Moran, and said he is from Hamilton Township, New Jersey. Both reported the encounter was about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, in the 300 block of Creek Road, and that he was arrested on Friday, Oct. 16. WGAL, citing court records, listed two counts of attempted kidnapping, two counts of attempted false imprisonment, simple assault, two counts of possession of instruments of crime, and terroristic threats. LancasterOnline reported he was charged Friday with kidnapping, false imprisonment, simple assault and other related crimes, and did not print the word attempted or a count-by-count list. Those are two descriptions of the charging paperwork. They are not a conviction.

The woman's account, as both outlets reported it from the affidavit, is that she was trimming weeds near her driveway when he came up to her. WGAL reported she told investigators someone tapped her shoulder, and that when she turned he was holding handcuffs and a knife with a serrated blade about six to eight inches long. LancasterOnline reported he approached her with a serrated knife and handcuffs. WGAL reported he demanded that she allow him to place her in the handcuffs and said everything would be okay if she complied. LancasterOnline reported he demanded she put the handcuffs on. WGAL reported she stepped backward, then revved the weed whacker, moved toward him and screamed, and that he ran. LancasterOnline reported she screamed and stepped forward with her motorized string trimmer, and that he fled. Both reported she went to a neighbor and told police she believed he meant to kidnap her. LancasterOnline reported she said she had never encountered him before that Wednesday. WGAL did not print that line. The woman is not named in either story.

How investigators reached his name is in both accounts, with different detail. WGAL reported a nearby trail camera showed a dark-colored Chevrolet pickup parked along Creek Road from 4:09 p.m. to 4:22 p.m., and that troopers used license-plate reader records. LancasterOnline reported a neighbor's trail camera showed a dark Chevrolet pickup with New Jersey plates parked nearby shortly before the alleged attempt, and that a search of the plate showed it belonged to Davila-Moran's father. Both reported she identified him in a photo lineup. WGAL reported the lineup was on Oct. 16 and contained eight photographs, and that she identified him immediately. Both reported she said, "This photograph makes me tremble." WGAL reported Hamilton Township police searched his home later that day and took him into custody, and that troopers saw the truck outside the home with a pair of handcuffs in plain sight. LancasterOnline reported New Jersey police arrested him at his home Friday and that a pair of handcuffs was in his father's vehicle parked outside. The handcuffs in a truck, and the truck registered to his father, are what the outlets said investigators found. They have not been tested in court.

LancasterOnline's story, published Saturday, Oct. 17, reported he was awaiting a preliminary arraignment and that bail had not been set as of that afternoon. The paper reported Pennsylvania State Police did not immediately answer a question about his status. WGAL's later story, updated Monday, Oct. 21, did not give a bail figure or an arraignment result. It reported that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed an immigration detainer with the Lancaster County Prison on Oct. 19, and that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said Davila-Moran is a Guatemalan national who is unlawfully present in the United States. WGAL reported DHS said Border Patrol agents encountered him in Donna, Texas, in January 2018 after he entered the country unlawfully, and that he was transferred to the Office of Refugee Resettlement because he was a juvenile at the time. That is DHS's account of a 2018 encounter, as WGAL reported it. It is not the Pennsylvania charging document. The counts WGAL and LancasterOnline described are the accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Philip Ambrose pleaded not guilty to murder and guilty to manslaughter in the death of Michael Hayes.

The plea those outlets reported is an admission to manslaughter. It is not a sentence. The Leader says he is back on Oct. 30 so a sentencing date can be set. RTÉ and The Journal say next Friday, for a date for the sentence hearing, and do not print Oct. 30. The Leader is also the outlet that says the prosecution told the court the plea was acceptable to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
